You can also do it like this :  Move you mouse near the top of the PRV window . When you see the Loop with a down arrow : press the right mouse button and keep it pressed - then move the mouse up or down !

I actually haven't had a chance to check out the new MIDI stuff in Platinum yet (all DAW time has been spent on things related to my current project but that will veer into the PRV soon enough). I am glad they increased the note size though for finer editing to help avoid bumblefingery. Just got a little alarmed at the prospect that they had made that the min zoom size but that doesn't seem to be the case so... awesome. Looking forward to some PRV editing sessions now.

Thanks. It was a wonderful act of kindness and although I was ready and happy enough to wait and use X3 until things turned around for me the benefits of having it now are already apparent... and I have not even done anything spectacular yet. I have only been tracking and doing some light mixing/editing as I go. There are essentially no hiccups or audio engine stops where there would ahv ebeen before. They fixed a VERY specific bug that seemed to have only been affecting me (based on the forum). The Control Bar is brilliant and making things much easier. The new ADPaks I got for AD2 sound superb (even though AD2 itself is a little weird but I'm getting a handle on it).
 
Essentially I've just continued working normally on some very specific stuff that isn't using any of the real flash and dash stuff and I've noticed a huge improvement. Very happy with it.
 
Sorry to hear about your power issues. That is seriously whack, man. Isn't there some kind of social services help that can keep your juice running or something? Considering it's a) kind of necessary to have electricity and b) it's your livelihood I'd imagine someone somewhere could help you get some steady power.
 
Otherwise maybe see if you can find one of those hand cranked power sources to juice up your laptop batteries in the second hand shops or something. Kind of a PITA but could snag you an extra couple hours a day at least.

The difference to me is night day. I had some minor trouble working in the PRV as it used to be. Now its just a joy to work in. It in my view was fixed in Platinum. 
 
I also noticed a bug but it can be easily worked around by doing a small zoom out or in and you can then select all notes of a pitch by clicking on the piano key. This was always a feature and I couldn't do it at first in Platinum but by accident found the work around. It still needs to be fixed, though. 
 
The bottom line is the new PRV is outstanding.

I'm not in front of my machine either... I didn't think the regular zoom tools woukd change this... Or what was the point if the supposed new feature it is touted as? Have they increased the maximum magnification?

The Maximum and Minimum zooms have been changed. Before the minimum would produce barely visible slivers of notes, they don't appear as small now when fully zoomed out. Conversely fully zoomed in notes are now larger than previously.

I guess that's a reasonable tradeoff... I don't remember using the farthest zoom very often... ;-)

I totally understand. X3e is very solud for the most part and i could have continued there as well... But thanks to a couple of firum members, i too was gifted SPlat... Of course with my electrical issues i have not been able to work it much yet... Hence some of my more obviously missed things... ;-)

I too have my uneasiness with both AD and AD2...... I actually use Session Drummer 3 more as i prefer the kit i have setup there...

Zoom issues have been a sticky one for me since Lanes were introduced... It's improved a little with some fixes and work arounds, but still chafing... So when i did a touch of editing ladt night, the defaulted large size put a scare in me prompting this post... And as i cant quickly turn on the machine, i couldn't experiment...

So my many thanks to all who settled my nerves reminding me of the obvious! ;-)

Btw... No services can help me... Too much cash for any of them... Im also negotiating not lising my hiuse, so the work scene here fir me has severely plummeted...

Sonar 5 you could zoom to exactly as much or as little as you wanted, vertically; x3, you get the cartoon-size large down to cartoon size small, and no concept of how much of the note range you may or may not want to have visible on the screen.   And then the 'move' symbol is larger than the note, accompanied by the tiniest possible font of text to tell you where it is being moved to, so you peer at it, like trying to read a miniature fortune cookie while looking at a bright light.      This x3 really is the worst user interface ever.   Have never spent so much time cursing and coming to forums and complaining.   I hope I never see the word multidock again ever.

Here's sonar 5, all three views I customarily use open at once, on a 19" monitor.   With x3, I have three 24" monitors, and I can't see all three views at the same time, and the piano roll can't be zoomed correctly. 
 

This is easy to do in Platinum. Open all three views and grab the tab in the dock for each view and move it to where you want them one after the other. You will no doubt need to adjust the size of each view and  place them in a way that they don't overlap. If you have three monitors this is so simple its ridiculously easy. Also set up a screen set for this. 

Thanks.    Oddly, floating the prv also fixed the zoom issue: in a floated prv view, the zoom works as expected, and you can get as much of the vertical range of the instrument in view as you like.   Cartoon complaints disappear!   The rigid size and awkwardness of controller lanes remains: to get one controller lane big, you have to minimize all the others one-by-mouse-click-one.

FWIW, I didn't see this mentioned above (or missed it) but you can also use Alt+Mouse Wheel to dynamically change vertical note size.
