Hi I am getting ready to upgrade my computer to windows 7 64 bit. my sonar x1 will be wiped out and need to be reinstalled. any thing I need to do besides saving my project folder.

would check first if your old 32 bit projects will work in 64 bit Sonar.
sorry I don't know how but probably somewhere here will know..
would wait with the 64 install untill you have this ok...

If sonar 64bit do not open 32 bit projects, you can still salvage the audio,midi, via importing all audio and midi regardless,into the new 64bit, so yes save all projects, and see what gives, or you can still take from it, if need be, and redo the mix,effects,mastering..
 
you can also run 32 bit programs on 64 bit os...so you can run both versions of sonar....
