So, I'm free to really dig into Platinum, now. It's on my new desktop and all my projects are on my i7 Win 7 laptop  X3PE machine. Is there some optimum way to do this? Or can I just drag 'em to the thumb drive and copy/paste them (cwp not cwb) into my desktop?
 
So far, I am just doing the latter, but wonder if there is a "better or best way".

    I was using my thumb drive. It's the folders I was curious about and I suppose copying and pasting the folder in my Cakewalk projects drive is essentially going to work as it did on the laptop.
    I guess what I was wondering is if opening a cwp on the new PC and then saving it was just as good as creating the folders (audio within the project)first.

I'm not sure what you are asking. If you have a project already made and you wish to move it to another computer it is just a matter of copy and paste. The folder structure is preserved if using per project audio folders. 

I usually create a specific folder on the desktop to save into for stuff like this. I'm assuming you know about the Save As, Per Project Folders, Copy all Audio with Project and changing the save location (BE SURE TO USE SAVE AS or you will change the location of the original project). I'll save it into that folder then cut/copy that. Or of course to remove a step I'd create the folder in the thumb drive and save there directly.
 
Reason I create that folder is so I can name it whatever I want (instead of having to change the project name) and I know exactly where it is landing). I can also reuse that folder to add other versions of the project as I work, etc.
 
But yeah... whatever is big enough to take the data is fine. You could also save some cut/copy time by compressing/zipping the file (good for online file swapping or if your media is too small for the unzipped project). I've never had any problems (as far as I know) with sipping/unzipping projects but be sure to test the project to be sure.

That's it, John. I was thinking I needed to duplicate creating the folder structure, but it's done and copying it is all I need to do now.

Because I had so much stuff to move to the new PC, I think I was thinking of the songs/projects as being as involved as the sample libraries, etc. I have created doubles in the past and since I haven't changed PC's for several years, I guess I was "overly concerned". Oh well, onward and upward.
I am only doing mine or my wife and my songs/pieces, so there is no need to hurry, nor zip them up. I intend to use the laptop as an additional backup, too, though the desktop has an external drive for backups.

My machines are networked so I just point sonar to the file, open it and do a save as in the new location. Same as with the client external drive bay.

My wife has her 2 laptops and desktop networked, so I suppose I should learn that, too, Danny. If I want to back stuff up or only move projects as I work on them, that might be the best plan. Certainly simpler than the thumb drive!

If you use a crossover cable you can just go direct from one PC to another without being on a network specifically. Easily obtainable. On the other hand having a home network is an invaluable asset for just your current situation

I have a cat 6 network with a Gigabit switch connected to my broadband router/modem and have wireless access to it as well for phones and iPads etc. and it means I can host my own website (if I want) automate backups and more. Fun to setup and use and very practical for making sure your data is secure.
