Hey fellas.  Ive been working with Sonar for about 6 years.  Ive always come here to read about issues and have never run into anything or some odd anomaly that I couldnt find out how to make work in my DAW.  Until last week.  Got some new strings for my 12 so I did a nice recording of That's The Way by Zep a few weeks ago.  Got acoustic, bass, and vox all wrapped up and decided to put some shaker sounds in the last passage of the song.  Brought up NI Battery and my usual kit setup, and made a recording.  The midi event is there in the track, looks all good right?  Midi will not play back no matter what I try.  This is the first time I've ever been this stuck on anything in Sonar.  I've compared settings and screenshots across older projects that work perfectly, and I just cannot find the answer.  I do think its project specific, as I loaded up Rapture and it wouldnt playback in this project either.  Is there some obscure hotkey I mashed that will disallow midi playback in a project or something?  Would love to get past this, as I've spent a couple nights and about 4 hours tinkering with buttons and checking settings and I'm getting nowhere.  Im about to jump online and order a damn shaker and just be done with this lol.  I would love to hear if anyone has experienced this same thing, and where I need to be looking.  Thanks so much folks.  :)

Are any fx working? There is an enable/disable fx button and i believe that synths rank with that...

...just a thought.

Heya Keni.  Yes plugins are working just fine.  Global FX button is not lit, so I'm not globally disabling effects to my knowledge.  I've checked the I/O chain on associated midi / audio tracks and everything is routed properly.  I can record what I want, I get input echo, midi track shows key input, synth track for battery does as well.  The recorded event is there.  When I playback, the midi track shows that it is reading the event (the track meter lights up), but the synth track that should be showing me audio, is doing nothing.  Same thing for Rapture.  Headache : acquired.

Remove the synth without deleting related tracks then add the synth back and route the midi track to it.

This sometimes happens to me with rapture if I send it channel change events from my gr20.

Thanks, I haven't tried that.  However, I have deleted the synth and associated tracks, and readded and recorded again, with the same results.  No playback.  I will try this, but I am expecting the same results.

similar issue for some reason I can't hear the beats I have inserted from AD2 although I can see the midi track no sound from it. Audio tracks are fine

Werewindle - Have you tried the same things as me?  Deleting the tracks and synth, re record, try playback?  Insert a new synth, record, and try playback?

yup all of the above and like you spent several hours trying to see what was wrong. Eventually went to training video did exactly what it showed on a new project and still no sound.

Ooooh....see that's where we differ.  I can go back to an existing project, or create a new one, and things work fine.  Do you get midi activity on the midi track during playback, but it just seems like its not routing it to the soft synth track?

Ok, here's some progress.  If I engage the all effects bypass, I get playback.  When I disengage, no playback.  I have Battery routed right to the master bus, two plugins on the master bus currently.  L3 Multi and Ozone.  I can turn those plugs on / off exclusively and still no playback.
