Hi all,

I use Sonar as main DAW since quite a few years and really love this piece of software. However, sometimes I use Cubase and its Chord Track feature for quick&dirty composing (make a progression on a track by chord symbols and link midi patterns)

Is there any compareable tool within Sonar Producer X3 now?

Thanks in advance!

If there something else needed to get that to run? I have tried both the Program Files and Program Files (x86) paths, registered the dll, but it does not show up in X3 (I notice it was written/tested on SONAR 2.2), so not sure if it still works.

Added to MIDI Track FX bin (it's an MFX)?

Worked fine for me on X3 after doing that (I tried feeding the MIDI track's output to PSyn just because it was easy) .

UPDATE: The only oddity I've found (annoying) is that on closing the plug-in's window and re-opening, the settings appear to have gone, even though they seem to take effect on playback.  I worked round this by saving as a preset and reloading it if I needed to work on the settings.

I haven't used these, but they do look interesting:

Also, check out Catanya as it might be an interesting tool:

Yes to both. I installed Ten Crazy's Note Rotator shortly afterwards just to verify, and that shows up fine in X3, so I am sort of baffled as to why. The only registry difference between them is that the chordGenerator comes up with ThreadingModel as "both" so I actually deleted that, but still no luck.

MFX plug-ins must be compiled for the proper target in order to work. In other words MFX plug-ins must be compiled as 64bit in order to work in 64bit SONAR. TenCrazy recently ported their plug-ins to 64bit. The MFX in post #2 is a 32bit MFX so it will only work in 32bit SONAR.

Thanks for the response scook. This one was not particularly high on my list of priorities, but I had a hunch the 32-bit part was at play.

I just checked out tonespace and downloaded it. Not done much with it yet, but it runs both as a VSTi and stand alone and has a virtual keyboard that is a visual nicety. I need to check out the features more in depth, but this looks very promising, thanks Mesh.
