Hi all,
I have been out of the music game for a while due to having 2 little kids and no money. However as kids are getting older now I have been allowed to pursue my hobbies again :) I upgraded from sonar 6 xl to x3 at the tail end of last year and it blew my mind as it was such a quantum leap in technology. Within weeks the bug had caught me fully and I upgraded to x3 studio, once again lovely product, stable for me and good additional toys.
I thought for me it could not get much better but recently my wife got me the upgrade to sonar professional for valentines and I must say it is a joy. Lighter on my system than X3, feels more responsive and the content is awesome. I must say Craig Anderton's  amps and other gismos are lovely.
My goodness how far we have come in 9 years or so that I have been away. In the old days I needed to have a Creamware pulsar dsp card to get any proper virtual instrument action. Now all I need is Sonar and my usb interface. I am indeed a happy bunny.

Cheers

Really pleased to here that.

I went from Sonar 6 to X1, and, apart from a massive learning curve, was blown away by the leap forward.

Happy music making.

I completely understand Des.........I too don't have any money as I have 4 children, but my hobby still goes on.

What I find that's really good about this current version is the stability and smooth workflow......the goodies that come with are just uhhhmmmm......icing on the cake.

I make/made tons of money writing music, but have two kids also.... so I'm also broke.  The tech advances have just blown my mind.  The fact that I have multiple compressors/limiters/EQ/verbs/mastering plug-ins all at a world class level..at my finger tips...just is crazy.  Sonar is crazy.  And then there are those who come and do nothing but complain.  Go figure.

Anyway, to the OP...Congrats!  Good luck!

I can honestly say that the setup I have now beats hands down any other setup I have ever had or used. In a previous life before I got a "proper" job I was an engineer in a medium sized studio which cost 10's of thousands and could not do what I can now with a modest few hundred quid investment. To those that complain I would say travel back in time and sit in a studio from 25 years ago and see how far we have come. Modern studio technology is a marvel in my opinion :)

I am still in awe of what we can do with a computer and the right software. I have been since the DOS days.
