For now, i'll give Cakewalk the benefit of the doubt though.

I've been contemplating some casual yet hilarious adventures for us. This thread, and my recent foray into synthesis, is making me think it should be an EDM smash hit.

Is this a serious thread? If EDM is an afterthought, then please explain why I have over 10,000 EDM loops from Sonar on my hard drive?

Those loops aren't up to Mr. Drone's high standards of excellence.

Why you guys harshin' on Drone so bad?  Drone wants what s/he wants just like the rest of us.  Disagreement is one thing, but isn't this getting a bit personal?

Patience, young Jedi.

Two of my contributions for next month are EDaMp, a guitar amp designed for EDM guitar players (all three of them, LOL), and a percussion loop library with three folders:  Electro, Tambourine, and Electronic Percussion. I guarantee you have not heard anything like the Electro one.

As to today, did you check out Brian's loops and the bass synth patches in the Dim Pro expansion pack? Not exactly acoustic... Or the Scratcher in the folder of DJ effects? The Hardcore Drums and Drum Loop Mangler FX chains are pretty industrial but are suitable for EDM. And of course, the Resonator and Tightener folders have FX Chains that can help tremendously with EDM mixes.

All of this is new since Platinum. You really should check them out...even some of the Environments chains are good to layer in the context of chill sets.

That was exactly my thought when I first read the OP but I was thinking it was more like a gazillion.

To OP:
As stated, their are tons of loops (thousands) but to for a specific type one may find they need some 3rd party stuff.
No way CW could cater to one or the other and I don't think they do.

Many (or most) of us have 3rd party plugs. I have had kontakt for ages for instance, and I have plenty of Kontakt add ons that I paid for also. Plus Ozone 5, Sound Forge 11, Reverberationx64, etc, the list goes on and on.

So you need to add to your library for your own specific needs, that's the answer to Drone7's "dilemma"

Or the other software's like mentioned above that "do" advertise and cater to loops, etc.

I think Drone has a right to make his point.  A million loops doesn't make a DAW "EDM friendly".  Speaking as someone who producing across several genres, I find SONAR to be least friendly for dance/pattern-based music.  Some of the new PRV tools are helping, though.

As someone else mentioned, whenever ANYONE has a desired option or would like to see the bakers drive the product into a certain direction, we see it here.  How is this any different.

I, for one, mostly agree that there are many tools that could be added to the SONAR arsenal to facilitate production in EDM.

I'll say for the record that I'm fond of Sonar, but there are many types of music, so yeah, we need the tools, but I've investigated Kontakt etc, and no-go, the quality of their sampling is sup-par IMO. I prefer something like Nexus 2 at... refx.de, this is usable for my genre. I know that music is more than just EDM, but I just wish Cakewalk would take their mind of 'loops' and guitars, and be more thoughtful about what it actually is that we can make use of.
