• SONAR
  • PRV Lasso + Copy (Starting copy a 64th note before first note!)

(UPDATE: Please read my updates in the comments below. I've found both the cause of this issue, plus additional ones)

Okay. I'm having an issue that is driving me crazy. When using the Piano Roll View, I'm attempting to lasso a group of notes from a percussion part that I wrote so that I can copy and paste them to create a repeating pattern. However, even though the first note starts exactly on the beat, the lasso starts a 64th note before the note. So when I go to paste the group to the next bar, the beat is a 64th note off because Sonar is copying that blank space and starting the actual note a 64th note late. What is this behavior and how do I fix it?

Update!

I figured out the source of the issue, but I feel like this is behavior that should be changed.
When in Track View, the "window" that contains the MIDI data was extended by a 64th note before the first actual MIDI note was played. So, for some reason, when I try to copy and paste data in the PRV, it's treating that empty section as part of what I'm trying to copy. If I extend the window four measures before the first note, for example, when I try to lasso a section in PRV starting from the first MIDI note, it will in fact lasso the full four bars of no data as well. This can't be the way PRV is intended to work, right? I don't remember ever having this occur before and I work in the PRV a lot and have been for years. Can any of the bakers look into this for me, or tell me if there is a setting I can change to have the PRV ignore the "midi window" of the track view?

Thank you!

I'm not sure what's going on, but you might try to perform the lasso without fully encircling the starting note. Start from the end and lasso only half way through the first note...

Im thinking that there may be a hidden controller event or such...

...and also make sure the status of move to/move by in thesnap window is correct...

Update #2

More strange behavior in PRV.

I have two percussion tracks (different Kontakt instruments), let's call them #1 and #2, open in PRV at once. Normally the way lasso works is I can lasso a group of notes from one instrument, copy them, and then paste. Sonar will paste those notes to the same track from which they were copied. However, now when I copy a group of notes from instrument #1, it's pasting those notes to instrument #2. What happened to my beloved PRV!? This is completely killing my workflow :(

Thanks for the response. Please read my two updates. The first one is below my original post and above your comment, so you may have missed it.

Try the latest platinum update.

One of the fixes:

'Lasso in the PRV Controller Pane would sometimes perform an additive selection'

Thanks.

Are you referring to the recent Braintree update? I did that already. And I just checked Command Center and it looks like I'm all up to date.
