I'm a novice to post production and I'm just learning the real benefit of equalizing.  I know there are countless tools available for Sonar X3 Producer through the use of VST plugins. Can someone help me to determine if there is a good 'visual' parametric EQ included with X3 Producer?  If not, can someone suggest a good third party plug in?  I say 'visual' because I'm hoping for one like FL's Parametric EQ 2 that shows the frequency's when a tone is played to make it easier to figure the frequencies that need to be adjusted.

Thanks for the help!

Use the one in the ProChannel, and double-click on its header to see a "flyout" spectrum display along with the EQ curves. However...ultimately you'll end up using your ears. Sometimes what "looks" right doesn't "sound" right.

very good suggestion, thanks. didn't realize there was a parametric eq in the ProChannel. I'll check it out.

I checked my ProChannel, there is no flyout button at the top.  I do see the spectrum analyzer in the strip, but it is small and hard to work with at that size.  Is it possible I have to turn on a preference to see the flyout button, or perhaps I have an older version of the ProChannel?  I purchased Sonar X3 Pro last summer.

Thanks!

The question is about X3 Producer but your .sig says you have X3 Studio (and maybe SONAR Professional too?). Neither of those products have the flyout feature, it is exclusive to X3 Producer and SONAR Platinum. If you actually are running X3 Producer or SONAR Platinum and do not have the flyout version of the EQ, it is because the old X3 Studio or SONAR Professional version is still installed.

Thanks for the clarification.  I was looking for the EQ in ProChannel on my laptop, which I haven't yet upgraded from Studio to Producer.  I checked it on my desktop and in fact, I do have the flyout.  Also, I see I have to update my information.....thanks for that too!

I appreciate each of your responses.

Thanks for the feedback and updating your .sig
Please edit the initial post and add [Solved] to the subject line.

Also, the Sonitus EQ included with Sonar is a very capable parametric eq. I use that one, partly because I don't like the ProChannel UI, but also because the Sonitus EQ offers more bands and different filter types. Sadly it lacks the spectrum analyzer, however. (In fact the Quadcurve EQ UI is great... I wish I could have it as an insert!)
