Ive been reading various posts on the update and I still just can't seem to find any of the new content I supposably installed. I ran the scan for vst's thinking it would show new content. The Bark pro channel module is nowhere around. I read through the pdf for the re matrix stuff and had no luck finding it. I've never had a problem with any update through the years. Why is this proving to be more difficult? Is there a " Dummies guide to updates " anywhere in this forum for this update? I need it. Thx

First its important to install all yellow or red items. This means when you open C3 you should see Sonar as yellow that is only the beginning. This means it and perhaps more stuff needs updating. There is a slew under it and you have click on it to see them. You need to install all of them for a full install. As they are installed they will turn green.  That is what you want for all items.

I understand that part, weeks ago when I did my upgrade from X3 I followed the guidance from other forum members as to what was necessary to install coming from Producer. That is the path I took, therefore I have a lot of red dots in the c3.

I advise turning all those reds into green. This is how C3 is meant to be used. There is nothing in it that will destroy an older install of an older version.

Hey, I had exactly that experience, did what I thought was the install/update, but then couldn't see any evidence of the stuff I was supposed to be installing.

What I figured out was that the install sort of comes in two stages. First you do the Sonar update, which I guess addresses all the "under the hood" items. Then go back to Command Center and click Sonar again. It will open a drop-down where it will list all the other components to be installed, all in yellow or red. Click them one at a time and it will lead you through the process. Mine went flawlessly, once I figured that out.

Nicely outlined. C3 could use a do over but if you follow its logic its not so bad.

It could also use better documentation beyond just the feature descriptions to include the installation process. The experiences forum members are having - both positive and negative - will help considerably in crafting that document.

I'm going to attempt a users guide to installing Sonar platinum. This is for a normal default install. See below for how to install when a custom install is needed

First Download Cakewalk Command Center I will refer to it as C3 hereafter.

You can get it here https://www.cakewalk.com/Command-Center

Once it is installed and you have purchased Sonar run it and you should see something like this.

Notice a couple of things here. One Sonar is listed at the top of a longer menu with a lot of red lights. These indicate not installed by C3. If they were yellow it means it has been installed by C3 but there is an update for it. Green means all is well and up to date.

Clicking on each item will either install or update it. You may also have an option to reinstall or uninstall.
The is some customization for C3 and the option menu is located to the right top. Its a little cog wheel looking icon. It will let you set a path for VSTs and the like. It will not let you install Sonar in a non default directory or disk.

What if you need to have a custom install!

You still use C3 to download the install files but before exit C3 and on a Win 8 system goto ProframData/Cakewalk/ Platinum/ Command Center/ Download.

There you will see all the downloaded files that can be installed directly. Just double click on each one in order to start the install for that item. This will give you full user control on where and what is installed.

Any questions I will attempt to answer.

Essentially, for me, since I already had previous versions of Sonar, i.e. X3e and some earlier ones so I could still use Sonar R-Mix, V-Vocal, etc., I only installed the Platinum install when it was first released in January plus the other individual feature installs to complete it.  I did not want to reinstall the things like I already had like Dimension Pro, etc.

In this Braintree update, I installed the Sonar Platinum "Braintree" update, the NYC Showroom IR impulses, the Anderton stuff since it includes new content and features, and finally the Boz Bark of the Dog plugin.  This, I think, will get you up to date if you had already had full install.  I don't know if the new Help and Tutorial files are up to date or not, but I suspect not.  The downloadable pdf file would reflect the changes within the Braintree update.

If  you read the pdf file, you will have to load the NYC IR impulses manually and well as refreshing the screen in Rapture for the new content.  The pdf pretty much explains everything.
Hope this might help somebody...
