hi everyone. I recently got sampleson electrix piano..put the dll (64 bit)in cakewalk(8.5) . All ok..but the sound is distorted. I thought it was the latency first, and tried adjusting that(asio)..nothing happening. I then tried the 32 bit version, same there. I tried the stand alone and that was ok. Any body have any ideas ?? cheers/Ray...ps/no problems with any of my vsts..just this one.

The three things I try for plugins no behaving are (in order of preference):

  1. Make sure upsampling is disabled
  2. It's VST3 first try using the VST2 version and see if that works any better.
  3. If it's only VST2 and you've got JBridge, try enabling the "load using jBridge wrapper" within the plugin options. I've found this can fix issues with certain plugins - even if it's 64 bit.

hi msmcleod..how do you disable upsampling

It's the menu on the top left corner of the plugin's UI :

make sure the upsample options are unchecked.

BTW - I had exactly the same issue with distortion using Samplelord yesterday.

I'd rescanned my plugins recently, and it was loading Samplelord using bitbridge (it's a 32 bit plugin).

Once I'd checked the jBridge option, it sorted it out.

Are you sure it's distortion? IOW, if you look at the waveforms are they clipped?

It wasn't a clipping distortion. To my ears, it sounded like it was missing every other sample (not skipping one, as this would be twice the pitch).

hi again msmcleod..there is no option for upsampling in the drop down menu..only enable floating and enable tabbed. Also, you mentioned about using the vst 2 version. As there is only one plugin(dll) i dont know whether its vst 2 or vst 3,,,i'm using an old version of cakewalk (8.5)...and that doesnt support vst 3..I just added the .dll file to my vst file, but it still distorts. As i mentioned above the plug in works ok in x3. It seems to me ,that this plug in won't work properly in cakewalk 8.5

Ok so in 8.5 its definitely going to be VST-2.

I think you're right - it's some incompatibility between Sonar 8.5 and this plugin.

Another straw to clutch at:  When you run it standalone, is the sample rate its using different from what you're using in Sonar? Does changing the sample rate from 48Khz to 44.1Khz (or the other way around) within Sonar make it better?
