So.... After 194 replies on this thread, I'm not hearing anybody raving about this plugin. No one calling it a must have. Is it just a so-so plugin, or nothing special compared to what we already have, or is it's greatness being overshadowed by all the off topic complaints about it not being free??
Ignoring the four people who have "complained" (one of them, only about the price), most of the informed posts have been positive..
I have not posted more about it, as I have been so busy recently, that I could not give it the time it deserved.
The short answer is - Yes, it is worth it. It gives you something that we do not already have. It sounds fantastic.
I would like to spend some more time with it, so that I can give a more in depth appraisal, but I would highly recommend it already.
Used on a drum bus, in one project, it has produced magnificent results - the EQ and Compressor combined - bringing out the "room" sound, adding "crack" to the snare, doing a little "Pultec-thing" to the bass drum.
I used the compressor on a "synth" bass track (using Craig A's excellent Gibson EBS DimPro Expansion), but since replaced it with a "real" bass track. It made the DimPro track sound great.
I have not had the chance to try it on a vocal yet, but will post back when I do.
This is a fantastic plugin, that adds to the already great plugins available in the PC/Sonar.
It is a great Compressor, that offers something quite different to other PC compressors, all of which I use (PC76, Ca2a, 4K bus, 4K channel, Softube FET, VKFX Compressor).
The EQ is also "unique" - in the correct sense of unique.
Added to that is the Expander/Gate.
Altogether, it is a brilliant plugin, with the added PC modules, at a very reasonable/cheap price.
