  • Why buy Platinum if you had sonar x3 (p.4)

I just upgraded and once the various issues are ironed out in getting setup there is something really tight about the sound and depth of perception of my songs in platinum. They sound clearer and "deeper" (more transparent) I am a total convert now. No more X3. :)

I wonder if this is real or imagined.  I seem to have the same feeling, but improvements of this nature were not mentioned in the feature list.

When bugs are fixed they are going to free up resources to make the sound better.

I suppose it's possible any feature that touches on the audio engine could make an audible difference, whether or not it was intended specifically to improve the sound. But that's just a guess.

Andrew, when I mentioned AD2 disappearing, I meant disappearing from the upgrade, not from installed software.  If I upgrade today, I get AD2 + packs.  I understand this to be part of the deal to upgrade and subject to change in the future.  Will we be notified before AD2 is pulled from the upgrade, or will we just notice that it's suddenly gone, replaced by something else ?

Before, the 'free' third-party elements were known to be available for the duration of the version, and we expected them to possibly change in the next version.  Now, there are no longer versions, so will we be notified of changes to the makeup of the current state of the version before they happen ?  I realize that before we didn't know when a version would change, but we could guess pretty accurately.

I imagine there will be some notification and heads up that we will be pulling a product from a future version. Deals like this are definitely subject to terms and length. But right now, there's no plan to pull anything.

Thanks, can't ask for more than that.

Sure you can. Go on. Take a chance.

Forgive my skepticism, but "John", forum host, offered a post that, if it were turned on its head and made a negative, would have everyone shouting "Troll!! Troll!!!" .   Give some specifics, Johnny.    I can't see that any of the things in X3 that make it unusable for the midi world (click on a "focus point" of a midi note, left right top or bottom, in a sequence with a million notes?  come on cakewalk)  have been improved in platinum.

Are you talking about me? If so you have it 100 % wrong. I open my post in this thread with X3 being great. The exact quote is"Sonar X3 e Producer was a great version and it still is". Where am I saying its perfect? Where do I say there is no room for improvement?

Yes the PRV has undergone some major improvements with Sonar Platinum.

This thread is about a member asking if upgrading is worth while. I answered with what I believe is the truth. How can you find fault with that? No one calls me Johnny. That is rude. My name is John.

I side with being current.   Sans any bug additions,  current saves time in a few ways.

One, the content of many posts are generally about the current product - not always certainly.  I scan this every day looking for features I didn't catch, new technology additions and the like.  If I stayed on past products, I would have to search in a more defined approach.

Two, the developers of the latest technology, aren't resting on their past success, or they might experience the customer shift that blackberry experienced... meaning that they listen to customers and incorporate changes that improve the user experience so to speak.  I find that those simple changes can make improvements in time..

I also have another driver, and its not rational.  I hate looking at a post and then say WHAT??? I wish I had that...

If the cost is important enough to anyone, I might suggest that staying out of debt is a great consideration.  Especially going from one version to the next.   I would rather anyone sleep well at night, have less contention in money matters with others than to get the next new shiny thing and have to pay any consequence which that decision brings.

Best Regards,
