  • Problem converting WAVs for compatibility and use in SONAR X3

I'm having an issue regarding some audio files and loading them into a pre-existing session.

I recorded a drum session the other day, and for long, convoluted reasons I won't go into, we recorded half the mics on my computer in Sonar (1411kbs 32 bit mono WAVs) and the other half on my mate's laptop in Logic (at 1058kbs, 24bit WAV).

I'm running Sonar X3 64 bit on my computer, although I use WAVs that are 32 bit in my sessions. I've tried loading in the WAVs from the Logic session into SONAR and nothing happens. I tried converting the format of the files and saving them as 32 bit mono files, 1411kbs (using Goldwave audio editor), and the files converted fine, but when I tried to load these newer files into the SONAR session, the files loaded in and the session recognised them, but they didn't play back or make any sound and the wave profile showed only the waveforms above the line and none below.
I'm not really sure what else I can do to get the files into the session. They're mono, so converting them to 16 bit stereo 1411 doesn't make much sense.

Any ideas? Have any of you dealt with this before?

Unless you are getting error messages, the files are probably loading far down the time line in SONAR. Try turning off "Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp" in Preferences > File > Audio Data.

Be sure to check "Import as mono tracks" in the Import dialog.

Thanks Scook. You were right on both counts. Seems to be working fine with the 24 bit files.

Brundlefly, I'm pretty sure they were but anyway I'll check that out if I have cause to use the other method next time.

Thanks again.

Yeah, I dealt with that too with an old PT session that I wanted to bring the files into sonar from.
