Some good advice and I'll re state the important stuff

Always check your routing by muting the Master buss.
You should hear silence. If not look for things you inserted that defaulted to your interface directly. Or your effects busses. There's even a global toggle under "tracks" you can use.
If your mix sounds the way you like then your going to export it.
First I use "select none" from edit or the crtr/shift/A
Some use " select all" ctrl A but I've had that fail a few times. Just me.
Then go to File/ export audio.
The default should include the all the proper settings with only one change I make, and that's I change 32 bit to 16 bit for CD.

I cannot get anything to register from the master channel.
I do not have any singnals going to any busses. This is simple acoustic music I'm doing. No vocals, No drums, noMidi stuff. Just played into a mic, recorded it and that's it. No effects on any recorded channels, no eqing. I would think this Cakewalk XP-1 could handle this. But it is not.
All recorded tracks are going to "Master"
I do NOT have as an output selection "Master" in the master track. I have listed the MOTU Main outs, Output 1&2 and so on.
I hear the mastering effects when I put them in the effects bin of the master channel but they are not registering as signal going through the OZONE VST Izotope 5's signal indication.
I put the Ozone Izotope 5 into the mixed down stereo channel's effects bin  and I see itgetting signal AND hear it as well.
I think my mastering would be cleaner if I were mastering from the master channel's output rather than from the stereo mixed down channel that is going TO the master. Rather then the other way round which is what the Cakewalk software is forcing me to do at this point.
I cannot seem to find any other way to do this and the results are no as clean sounding as i need them to be.
Please, any suggestions?
I'm really disheartened over this.

Thank you so much for all of the support.

I really hope this is something simple I am not seeing.

"I put the Ozone Izotope 5 into the mixed down stereo channel's effects bin"

When I mix down tracks, SONAR always defaults to the Main outs for the mixed down track's output. I have to select the Master bus manually.
Make sure that when you export or burn the track that you're selecting the right output. If it's going to the Mains and you export from the Master, and Ozone is on the mixed down track, the Master export won't have Ozone.

I am so confused by this.

Looking to try and install Sonar 7 and just use that as this X-1 seems unable to master from the master track.
My mixdown track's output is set to MASTER which means to the master channel?
It seems pretty simple but  master track will not engage the OZONE from the export. I do hear it though.
So confused by this.

sorry about the triple posting. I've been up almost all night trying to read stuff and figure this out.
Why is this so, so difficult?

Before you give up - try this.

1: Listen to the song to make sure everything is there.
2: Click on File > Export > Audio
3: At the lower right, choose the preset "what you hear"
4: Make sure your set to 44.1K 16 bit and export the wav file

Don't try burning a CD at this point, just make sure you can get the export right.

Personally - I would never apply FX at burn time within X1. I do from my other DAW that has a dedicated mastering section, but I wouldn't do it from X1. I'd save it as a finished WAV in the exact format it needs to be then burn from that. It eliminates a lot of possible problems, plus you have a WAV Master of the song... something that is always good to have for future conversions.

Just my 2 cents...

Your issue is your trying to master at mixdown, separate the two tasks.

your suggestion worked like a charm.

Clicked "What you hear real time audio" in the presets offering ans wham, signal to and from the Ozone into the export.
Also Cactus Music, I did separate the mix down from the mastering with a separate project file.
I use a mastering project file that I just import 24 bit mixdowns into and master them when I've exported the master files into a folder for the collection of songs I am including in a cd I delete the file and import the next tune and so on until the CD project is done.
But i needed to do the suggestion of codamedia in order to get it all to work correctly.
I think i will sleep a little better now.

Thank you all so much for your kind help and suggestions.

Even though it's sometimes buggy like i still like X1 Producer DAW a great deal.

Please make sure you have Sonar X1d installed. It is available here.
http://www.cakewalk.com/S.../By-Product/SONAR%20X1

It is the most recent version of X1.
