Hello.  I am using Win 7 (64 bit) and Sonar X2 (64 bit) and Spectrasonics Trillian.  Spectrasonics doesn't have a community forum so I am asking this question here
 
I can't get Trillain to respond to key switches during midi playback.
 
I have set up a Multi in Trillian of three different patches.  Each patch is assigned a midi note key switch.  When playing at my midi keyboard, I can use the midi note key switch to switch between the patches in Trillain and thereby get different sounds from Trillian.
 
However, when I use Sonar to play back a string of midi notes, including bass notes that I want to hear and the key switch midi notes I expect to change sounds in Trillian, I hear the key switch midi notes as bass notes (Trillian is not supposed to sound the key switch midi notes, according to the Trillian documentation), and Trillain does not switch sounds after the key switch midi note has been played from Sonar.
 
Does anyone know how to get Trillian to respond to key switch midi notes during playback from Sonar?  Thanks in advance.  

The key switch note needs to be have a duration long enough to overlap the normal notes you want playing. So in the piano roll it will look like 2 note chords are playing, but the low note(s) will be the key switches.
 
In other words, when the key switch note ends, Trilian will revert to the main patch. You have to hold the key switch down to get the corresponding patch to play.

Ah-ha!  Thank you Mr. Crossan.  I figured the length of the key switch note was irrelevant.  I will lengthen the key switch notes and see if that corrects the problem

I'm only assuming I'm understanding this correctly , but I've had very different experiences recording Trilian  (Omnisphere too) in Sonar.
 
Specifically, if you're doing key switching don't record it with the patch in a multi - I've learned the hard way that it's sporadic at best.
 
I'd love to know it's my ignorance, but I don't necessarily think so...

It could be the Piano Roll notes are not in sync so Trilian receives a different note. For example in SONAR Platinum, a C3 in the piano roll produces a C2 in Trilian. [This is not a Trilian issue; from what I remember this is because there is no specification on which MIDI note is Middle C.]
 
You can adjust the Key+ setting to automatically transpose piano roll notes to agree with Trilian. If you've not seen it, the Multi's Stack page will show which notes Trilian is receiving.
 

Hello, Mr. Crossan.  I have made sure the notes of my physical keyboard correspond to the matching notes that appear in Sonar's Piano Roll View, by first recording a string of notes on my midi keyboard into Sonar, and then viewing them in the Piano Roll View.  The keyswitch notes I have assigned are located one octave down from the lowest bass note I have previously recorded.
 
In this way, I am able to correctly locate notes in the Piano Roll View.
 
As I described previously, Trillain responds correctly to bass notes and keyswitch notes when played from my physical keyboard, but does not respond to the same keyswitch notes when played back from Sonar.

Hello Declan.  So how do you get Omnisphere to respond to keyswitches?

When you mouse click the piano keys in the Piano Roll, does it show the patches changing in the Live page of the Multi in Trilian?

Hello.  I am embarrassed to admit this, but Mr. Crossan is correct: I have confused my midi notes.
 
In Sonar, was inputting the keyswitch notes one octave lower than they are supposed to be to send keyswitch info to Trillian.  Hence, Trillian was receiving the incorrect note data, and that is why Trillain was not switching sound the way I expected it to.
 
When I returned to look at the project this morning with fresh eyes (and Mr. Crossan's suggestions), I was able to identify my error.  Now I am able to get Trillain to switch patches without a problem.
