Take a deep breath. Sonar is not a piece of crap. Have to tell you, my Sonar Producer Expanded install is pretty rock solid. I don't think it has crashed yet. Although with Producer I was having an odd crash..... Had I not gone to, "Expanded," I probably would have done a complete uninstall and reinstall of Producer.
The thing is, "blaming Sonar," is pretty lame imo. And, "I've seen Reason crash." I've seen Cubase, Ableton, Logic, Pro-tools, Renoise, Sonar, Reaper crash.. They all crash.
Lot's of times the crashes are caused by vst's. Sometimes the crashes come from bugs in the program. Plenty of times the crashes have to do with a certain computer spec and setup.
<---------- 'm using the WDM/KS drivers with Roland's Quad-capture. The ASIO drivers on this thing are useless. Should I be using something else? I was told by the guy who sold it to me that these are the drivers I should be using. I also tested all the others and had the best luck with these. That's what you are running? That is a big red flag.
If you don't want to use Rolands drivers, you could try Asio4all, "google it..." And what build of Sonar are you using? If you purchased Sonar during these June sales, its probably worth mention... "Install producer.. Than install the updates in the proper order. I think you have to install C, before it will let you install D.
Are you running D? You didn't even mention the build you are running... Ten years into production.. lets get our bug reports sorted
Example Bug Report: Part of my spec
x64 system on AMD A6 running radeon graphics with 2200 hertz and 4 cores. Win 7 home premium, on a 1 terabyte disk at 7200 rpm.. etc, etc.
But when your bug report is basically:
Sonar sucks. Its crap. Cakewalk blows. The software is is junk.
Are you even being serious? Cause all the DAWs are going to crash, and people wine and complain all the time. A lot of these problems are actually people not practicing how to produce, and becoming a better artist. Poor carpenters like to blame their hammer!
I am brand spanking new to Sonar. Never used it before this June. However, I've been producing 7 years now.. I've got this thing running, "rock solid," on my system.
Now, "rock solid," for most audio software is a little bit of a facetious joke. But in all seriousness; Sonar's latest Producer Expanded build is pretty stable here. I had some crashes with Producer when I first installed.. The things coming along now.. Its running, its really stable
+ The Sonar software is really amazing. I mean, if you were a totally broke azz musician using Reaper, Renoise, and your old version of Live 7, that you bought, on a major discount.. You would know.. Sonar is like, "next level."
That is not to say Live and Renoise are bad. Live is really good. Renoise is my love. Reaper is a piece of
