Since I had already purchased Melodyne before it was included with X3 Producer, I now have two licenses.  So, I can have it on my desktop DAW with one license and could have the second (Sonar supplied) license on a laptop if I wanted. (This according to Melodyne support).

Welp...as I imagined, my ol pal was right.  An uninstall, cleaning, rescan, reboot, reinstall and rescan of Melodyne did the trick.  Running hot straight and normal again.

Glad it worked for you. Most likely a corrupted Melodyne install somehow.

Indeed it was a setup issue. This is the info I got from Celemony regarding the crash dump. Posting here in case it helps someone else with this problem...
Obviously not all crashes will be related to this but if you are crashing on a simple insertion of Melodyne its likely to be related.
this is a crash in the PACE libraries. The customer should please try to re-install the PACE drivers, I think there may be some setup problem on his machine. If that doesn't help, he should contact our support, quoting this email.

You used the words Pace, iLok and fine, all in one sentence. How'd that happen?

Hope no one minds, I changed the title to alert people about the PACE issue.

And aren't the PACE drivers updated about every 20 minutes?
