Happily using sonar 8.5 studio for years.   How much to upgrade to a version of Cake that gets me audio to midi conversion?

(I use the midi side of Cake, mainly.  But audio to midi sounds very cool.)

The simplest option is Melodyne available in Sonar Professional.

But then you have to upgrade your Melodyne. I do believe Sonar has it's own audio to midi conversion.

Pretty sure you are wrong. As far as I can tell this has never been a feature of Sonar.

Audio snap can too.

Melodyne Essential (the product included with SONAR Professional/Platinum) does audio to MIDI but cannot handle polyphonic audio, that requires an upgrade to Editor or Assistant.

AudioSnap has a way to convert audio transients to a specified MIDI note.

Vvocal can as well but not sure it was in 8.5

I guess the question is which software is the easiest to use or, at least, does the best job of conversion.

This is very useful info.  I will check out Sonar 3 and/or Producer.
