Leadfootdid you delete the BFD3 stuff in the registry before reinstalling?

Hey Leadfoot.  Yes I did, but thanks for the thought.

I'm going to try and take advantage of my 3 day weekend and take my time going through the whole process again step-by-step hoping it will finally take.

That is...unless the wife has other plans for me.  Valentine's Day you know...Don't forget your flowers boys!!

Best of luck Mojo! I just picked up my flowers too!

I had problems installing BFD3 when it was first released using the supplied USB stick.

FXpansion suggested instead of using the USB stick that I downloaded it all from their website and use this for the install.

This worked

Does BFD3 work ok if you run it standalone?

Actually no.  It does the same thing in standalone.

That's why I believe something is going wrong during the install.
I am installing from the USB.  That's what I purchased.  And the install seems "iffy" when I use it.  I don't really know how else to describe it.  I have even used it in a different port each time to make sure it wasn't my PC.

Thanks

Hey Mojo

If this is happening in standalone is BFD3 not producing crash logs the next time you open it?
If it si you need to zip them up and send them to techsupport AT fxpansion.com also send the run time logs which you can find in, 'C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\FXpansion\BFD3\Run Time Logs.

It's always best to get BFD3 up and running in stand alone before loading it into sonar or another sequencer.
Other things you could try would be to make sure BFD3 is using asio in the options/audio, and make sure your asio drivers are up to date.

Did you encounter any issues during the BFD3 install?

So over the long weekend, I uninstalled any and all traces of BFD2, BFD3 and any BFD Expansion Packs from my machine.  I even deleted entries from my registry.  Now I am re-installing each element piece by piece and update by update.

However, this time I chose to download the core library for BFD3 instead of installing from the USB stick (as I believe the USB is the root of my issues).  It is INCREDIBLY slow.  After 24 hours of uninterrupted downloading I am only at 30%.  It's not hung up or anything...it IS progressing, but just very slow!!!

Has anyone else who downloaded BFD3 experienced this?

Thanks

Lots of people I'm afraid but thankfully I wasn't one of them.
Bear in mind it is 37GB and that's a lot, I have a 60MB broadband speed, I started downloading about 11.30pm and it had completed when I got up the next morning so about 8 hours for me. What is you broadband speed?

As for the usb being the cause I guess it's possible but I haven't heard of it before.
Are you the administrator and do you have full user account control?
If not you should make sure you do as I have know this to cause all kinds  of problems for people.

Hey Steve,

Yes, I am the administrator with full user control.  I'm at work right now so I can't check my speed, but I figure at this rate it will probably take the better part of 4 days and that is only if I stay off the internet for anything else so that I don't bog it down any more than it already is.

I just hope that my connection doesn't time out or get interrupted in the meantime.  UGH...that would really suck.

I initially tried two different times to install from the USB.  The first time, it got hung up and didn't do anything after being connected for over 30 minutes.  No progress what so ever.  I had to uninstall and re-install, and the next time I connected it to a different USB port and it immediately said that it was already installed.  This seemed to be erratic behavior.  Then when the program wouldn't work properly and kept crashing Sonar, I started thinking that it may be the source of the problem.

Mojo, as I'm sure you know d/l speeds are usually server/traffic or maybe local disk capacity issues. I went with d/l for BFD3 and existing expansion packs for a new install, was 2-3 hours tops.

To your original issue, came across similar issues when attempting to load and run older projects done with BFD2. I installed BFD2 -after- BFD3 and it downgraded the license manager to an older version. Issues -seemed- to be related to the FXpansion license manager trying to run on project load when it didn't recognize the previously authorized content. After a bit of trial and error, was able to get things running with the latest license manager. But took several attempts.

FWIW, you shouldn't have to reload the audio to fix the problem. Just make sure you scan for content and confirm authorization before trying to use it. And a big +1 to twaddle's comments on running as administrator and confirming the audio engine BFD thinks it wants to use. Hope the latest go proves to be the charm, but noted a number of BFD2 crashes when running older projects in X3, almost always related to adjusting a kit piece parameter while the transport was running. Thinking I'd better work this out before a client asks to revisit an older project.

HTH.

Hey Jackson and Twaddle...Thanks so much for the advice and input.
I agree that my download progression seems highly suspect, but I guess I'll see it through at this point so that I can know for sure where I stand on this whole re-install process.

If I do end up getting disconnected, I still have the USB plus all of the BFD3 audio and groove data installed and copied on a separate HD (from the initial install) that I can refer to.  It may very well come to that.

I will be sure to double check my admin status when I run and authorize my products in the License Manager.

Thanks again.  I'll let you know how I make out.
