  • Can't program some keyboard shortcuts - SOLVED

I imported the keyboard shortcuts from X3 in to Platinum. I have these programmed

Control F3  - go to previous marker
Control F4  - go to next marker

In X3 these work, but in Platinum, it seems to be hardwired to this

Control F3  - open preferences, snap to grid
Control F4  - screenset 9

In keyboard shortcuts
If I hit "Locate key"  Then hit Control F3, it displays - assigned to: (unassigned) but yet the word "END" is highlighted
If I hit "Locate key" and check keep open until escape. Then hit Control F3 - It reads  Key: Ctrl+E

If I hit "Locate key"  Then hit Control F4, it displays assigned to: 9
If I hit "Locate key" and check keep open until escape. Then hit Control F3 - It reads  Key: 9

If I scroll down the list and find
Control F3 + Control F4, they are correctly assigned to go to previous marker and go to next marker

What in the world is going on here?

Can someone try and program these shortcuts please?

I've looked into this a little further and either I have something corrupted in my manual installation or we have a serious bug here. I'd like someone to confirm it before I submit it.

I opened X3 and in the Keyboard Shortcuts window If I hit "Locate key" and check "keep open until escape". Then hit Control F3 - It reads  Key: Ctrl+F3 not Ctrl+E like it does in Platinum.

Please try this with Platinum, if you have no keyboard shortcuts assigned or even if you do, hit Ctrl+F3, and see if it opens Preferences - Snap. Then open Keyboard shortcuts and bind Ctrl+F3 to anything, close the window and try it and see what happens.

Thanks for your help,

For me, both CTRL+F3 and CTRL+F4 work as documented in X3 and Platinum
CTRL+F3 toggles the playback metronome and is shown bound to that function in Preferences
CTRL+F4 either closes the project or the current floating window but is not shown bound to any functions in Preferences

Locate key seems to work the same in both programs, properly reporting CTRL+F3 and CTRL+F4.

Thank you Scook. Since you weren't having this problem, i started trying diffeent things to see what it could be and found out that it was caused by my Macro Express, which is a great little macro program. It turns out that I use lots of macros not only with Sonar but with most programs I use.

Ctrl+F3, Ctrl+F4, Ctrl+F2 are all typing macros I use for inserting my info. I have them saved as global macros but excluded for SONARPDR.EXE and a few other programs. It turns out that Platinum's EXE file is now named SONARPLT.EXE. This is the first name change since Sonar 1. So my solution is to add SONARPLT.EXE to the exclusion list.

This is so funny, so when I hit Ctrl F3 it was like I hit all sorts of keys on my keyboard real fast. No wonder everything went haywire - ha ha. Man I'm glad I figured this one out, it was maddening. I kept hitting those shortcuts from habit. Yesterday was hell!

Thanks so much for responding, I hope to start enjoying Platinum

You are welcome, glad you got it sorted out. Maybe the subject should have [Solved] added to it, to let others know this is not an open issue. This can be done by editing the initial post and modifying the subject linel
