After installing Sonar Platinum, I mistakenly did not chose to retain or migrate my preferences from a previous version of Cakewalk. Anyone know if there's a way to rectify this after the fact??
Thanks,

What have you lost?

Quite a bit, I didn't realize how much customization I had done over the years. Renaming all the audio interface I/O's, custom plugin/virtual instruments lists, audio preferences, etc...

I didn't delete X3 so I could spend a couple days getting all that info back, but was hoping there was an easier fix. Really can't dig into Platinum until I get those preferences sorted out ;(

Did you try to delete Platinum and reinstall and choose migrate this time?

I did consider that...and I'm sure it would be quicker than the alternative.

I chose the "Migrate" option and there were things that didn't migrate: Color Presets; Audio hardware (friendly name) options; and probably some other stuff I haven't discovered yet.
Some Directory options were migrated, and some weren't.
I recommend reviewing your X3 preferences (use screenshots or something) and compare with SONAR 25/2015/New.

I chose migrate, too, and my key bindings followed, but not my track templates.  Is this the way it's supposed to be?  I'm now taking time to recreate my track templates, when I could be making music.

I chose migrate and not all modules migrated, and then Sonar would not see my Fire Wire interface. I thought there is some big issue. Appears- the driver settings (ASIO) did not migrate, this is why FW was not on inputs/outputs list.

I am thinking there is a way to import settings. Look options.

I don't think you need to recreate the track templates. I'm guessing this works as before and that track templates are saved into a folder. Either replace your newSonar-track templates folder with your old X3 one, or locate the right folder (the one with your own track templates) in newSonar's preferences -> file: folder locations

Bob - you could delete the cake.ini file and then SONAR will ask you to "migrate" the next time you start it up. (I'm pretty sure this will work. Rather than delete the ini file, just rename it - so if it all goes pear shaped, you can name the file back again and you'll be no worse off).

Lynn - your track templates (and everything else from X3) are still there. Just look at file locations in "preferences" and substitute "SONAR X3" for "SONAR Platinum" and you'll find them. then copy them to the Platinum (or whatever version you have) folder. Or else you could just point your new SONAR to the X3 folder - that would work too.

This is still pretty messy, and I'm not sure the Command Center has given us that much to help make it seamless.
