my view, were i an armchair psychologist, is that you're rationalising why it's "not sonar" but fair enough :-)

the cause right now is unknown.

Or perhaps actually nobody knows the cause of the issue right now (they are just guessing) and I'm stating a method to rule things out  . I don't care what it is I want the OP's issue fixed. Everybody's configuration is different. My advise still stands.

I called TS and they suggested that I reset the audio preferences. Looks like a recurring theme. ;)

I will do that when I get home and report. I am hoping it is as simple as that. If not, I will verify the driver.

If still an issue, I am going to open a trouble report and see where that takes me..

Alex, I hadn't noticed the latest RME driver. Thanks, I've got it now.

It seems to me that a lot of these are not so much driver updates that impact Sonar, but updates to TotalMix which is their routing software. The firmware updates seem to have a lot to do with the FX algorithms.

The one hang I had came as I was closing projects. I often have more than one project open and flip between them. Both projects had the same sample rate. Both were originally and always Sonar Platinum projects.

Cheers.. RME seem to be very specific that the driver has got to go with the latest firmware.. Anyway I would uninstall old driver software / reboot / reinstall driver to be safe.

Bedtime :) cheers..

FWIW, I'm 99% sure I found the source of my problems with my MCU.  In my investigation, I found that I had a feature for allowing midi control of the Hammerfall DSP mixer engaged in my RME software.  I believe that all of my DAW software was fighting with that program for the control of the MCU.

Switched it off and no crashes in SONAR and no error messages.

I just did the firmware driver update, I missed it by a week earlier.

I also reprofiled the audio by deleting the AUD.ini.

Still having a failure shutting down Platinum. Digging into safe mode.

Still up - tried Sonar safe mode yet?
No bitbridge/32 bit plugs I assume.
Yup time to to rule out whether it happens with a new project or not.

dangit, lost my update. :)

I just tried safe mode and I think I have identified the issue. A plugin synth. researching more projects to be sure. I think I have got it identified.

I am able to open and close these same projects in X3 without issue still. So something new with Platinum.

Thx for replying Alex.
