Just states Sonar has crashed, no real info on cause sadly.
What about that synth.... Does it crash in safe mode?

I was curious and after several frustrating minutes, I see that the project eventually closes. It just takes a very long time.
 
The plugin is EZdrummer2. I can insert a new instance in a project and try to close the project with the same hang results. I know this is apples and oranges, but this does not happen with X3.
 
Also, the VST scanner hangs on the EZdrummer.dll file for several minutes. It eventually clears and the synth loads as expected in the projects without any functionality issues in the synth.
 
So as documented above, SONARPLT hangs and has to be closed down. I wonder if that info will do any good or not. I opened up a problem report.
 
It is beautiful outside and I think I used all my inspiration trying to troubleshoot this issue so I may go for a good bike ride.  :)

My memory fails me (well to tell the truth I don't know), is there an update for ezdrummer? Glad you have nailed the cause.

With the problem report might be an idea to send the dump file if generated. I use www.wetransfer.com for this myself.

I have reinstalled EZD 2 since I've had SPlat so I'm wondering if that might be a possible reason that I'm not seeing any issues or hangs with my EZD projects.

I uninstalled EZD2, tried in base config and updated as well as uninstalleing PLatinum too.
 
I appreciate all the feedback Dave and Alex. I am looking forward to finding out what is going on.

Guitarmech, just fyi, I haven't seen another hang or crash since the one and only that occurred before updating the driver. 
 
Alex, I did download the firmware thingy and it said I was up-to-date, so driver and firmware are current. If I get any behavior that matches your troubs Guitarmech, I promise to post back.
