32 bit plugins are hosted by bitbridge so I'm not surprised behaviour is different. Maybe it would be similar within 32 bit Sonar. Either way code may not be identical between 32 bit and 64 bit versions...

Yes that too. If its a 32 bit plug in X64 SONAR then its running in bitbridge so behavior would be different.

If the dump isn't there, I can upload one from the DAW.

32 bit apps under 64 bit Windows will (should!) end up writing to the Virtual Store, but 64 bit apps just barf.  That said, note I said "should"...it doesn't always play ball, which is why installing 32 bit VSTs on 64 bit Windows *outside* a UAC-protected folder (eg. Program Files (x86)) is something I've been recommending for ages.

I don't advise installing *all* executables outside their Windows designated folders. Now you risk viruses and other stuff infecting your files. If there is a problem dll just put that one in a special folder and add it to the scan path manually.

Just plug-ins - it's a trade-off between manging them all (consistency makes it easy) and risk...

Normally I would agree.  I certainly would not turn of UAC etc or get rid if my virus and malware scanners, but I'm also not running Sonar as admin which gives a whole load of other different security implications.
