Hi,
Can Sonar X2 and X3 be installed on the same computer?  Or do they have to be on different drives?

Thanks

Matt

Each version of Sonar can be independently installed on the same computer. Whilst they share plugins and the like the program's remain seperate.

If you had the need you could also install both the 32 and 64 bit versions of each as well. At different times I've had as many as 6 different versions happily coexisting.

I have X2 and X3, and Platinum installed on my computer (all on C drive) . . . when you upgrade, it's best to leave the previous versions installed, so featured plugins and other things don't go missing from previous versions. The exe files don't really take up much disk space, and there are a lot of common files and directories that are best kept in place.

Each version of Sonar is a fresh install.

I have Sonar 7 and X3 on my PC, both still happily work, although I haven't opened S7 for ages.

There will be some folks on here that have every Sonar from 1 to X.. all on their humble PC.

One advantage is you can still use any plugins from older versions that have disappeared from new versions.
The Sonar core install is not that big either.

One caveat is that some of the Preferences like 'File Locations' will get shared. This is generally just an issue with the 32/64 versions of a particular install, but changing them in one does change them in the other. Across versions, the 'sharing' is in the reg for stuff like DXI's, util's etc. The biggest non-separate is probably the Projects/Content dirs if there is only a single drive.
