  • Full Platinum install - How Much Room does it take on C:\ Drive?

Seriously considering the quantum leap from 8.5.3 to Platinum. For those who have done a full install of Platinum - how space does the install take up on your C:\ drive? The sys requirements say minimum 5GB for install, with recommended 20GB space allocation. But, what is the real world size? Not including any samples that would reside on a separate drive.

Thanks in advance.

Typically, under C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum you should see about 126Mb

As you've noted, it's the samples that consume the most space

Currently the CCC does not provide for putting anything where you want it. Everything is placed into the default folders.
If you install all programs and content, including AD, DP,.. Folders will be in at least these locations:
c: cakewalk content
program files\ cakewalk, celemony, common files (celemony), XLN
program files 86\ cakewalk, celemony, common files (celemony, vst3)
program data\ cakewalk, celemony, overloud, XLN
users\appdata\roaming AD, AAS, cakewalk, celemony, overloud, XLN

Since I have multiple versions installed, and I have attempted to use C\AudioCommon for all plugins, and C\AudioPrograms for standalone programs, and D:\samples, the above listing is not completely reflective of a new CCC installation.

Fur Shur: too many folders in too many locations, most not easy to backup. Especially user saved presets and programs.

C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center keeps the downloaded files and is nearly 9 gig.

Hey,
Thanks for the replies, guys. I appreciate you taking the time to find the answers. This helps a lot. YouDontH... -
I noticed on my 8.5.3. installation that files/folders were hard enough to track down. I can only image it's much harder with Platinum. I'm also not thrilled at all with the inability to install files/folders where I want them. Call me stubborn or stupid, but I like as much control as possible over all program installations.

I intend to hold off on installation until Cakewalk releases the discs. I'll still probably spring for the update before the end of the month, but I have no intention of using CC to install it.

Again, thanks for your time.
