Go to the Cakewalk Blog to read Noel's article about the "under the hood" improvements to SONAR. There are a lot of ones I hadn't picked up on yet, and frankly, there were some cool aspects of Mix Recall that I completely overlooked.

There's also a list of 120 or so of the more significant bug fixes. Some of these are minor, like graphics anomaly fixes, while some are pretty major.

Well worth reading if you want to know what makes SONAR 2015 a considerable improvement over X3e and why this rollout has been so well-received by people who actually have the program. I'm still waiting for my first freeze/crash/hiccup. I hope I have a very long wait

This list does not include some additional bug fixes that occurred just before the 2015 version's official release (e.g., the Melodyne fix), and I don't think it includes the ones that will be rolled into the monthly update (for example, Noel fixed the Kontakt-with-non-English-OS bug).

Bee-uuu-teee-ful!!

Thank you!

'm just wondering if a project was saved with tracks hidden then opened maybe months later with data still hidden whether that might lead to confusion of the "where's my MIDI gone?" variety.

I guess I can see pros and cons for both ways of doing it....

I guess you just need a *big* button up on the top for "show everything".

I've accidentally hidden tracks before (by accidentally hitting a shortcut key) - and spent too much time looking up how to get it back ;-)

"Looping with input echoed synth active in the project leads to the tracks getting out of sync over time"

A good candidate for a retroactive hotfix if you ask me.

Cool, always glad to assist. I like Grem's solution a lot. I realize workarounds aren't as good as "the real thing," but one of the reasons I like SONAR is because the "toolkit" is big enough you can usually accomplish what you need. For example, even though there's no varispeed per se, you can use the Loop Construction window to do tape varispeed effects.

Impressive list of improvements! It doesn't take long when using Platinum to feel and experience the performance improvements. Far and above the new features, the quality performance  and reliability horsepower is worth having platinum installed on your daw.

I wrote 80% of that article yesterday and Craig spent half his day today "mastering" it. He has great editorial skills!

That's an *insane* list of fixes and enhancements under the hood. I think anyone should now be able to appreciate what an upgrade the new version of Sonar is.

As a software developer myself for the past thirty years I know this is a tremendous effort. And as a consumer I can feel the difference I day-to-day usage. Well done Noel and co.

That write-up in the link shows me that Cakewalk is deadly serious about getting this thing stable and functional. Bloody impressive from what i red< that's how it's pronounced, that's how it should be spelt - past participle of read - red). Anyway, compared to previous years those fixes definitely make me feel very confident about buying into Sonar-land. If that type of attention to under-the-hood improvements and fixes is gonna continue... I'M IN!

Now where's that EDM Drum-Machine, Cakewalk?

Exactly. Especially when you don't even know you hit a key, don't know which key it was, or what to search for to find it.

I will chime in here.
I just want to say a big big THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK  YOU:)....
the vast improvements have definitely helped stabilize Sonar.
I had X1 which crashed and other quirks that affected me to compose music, mixing, etc, but with the new Platinum, It has become very stable now to where I was able to reduce my latency for my firewire audio interface and throw a ton of Soft Sythns except the kitchen sink at Sonar now and it has not crashed once.
I inserted over 20 or so Omnispheres soft synths and FX, etc. and not once did it grind to a halt.
The programmers at Cakewalk are to be commended for writing an awesome piece of software that is also easy to use.
Again thanks.
