Mesh
Most people don't want to do the right thing and there are a minority few that like to see the right thing done...

How are you deciding what's right in this instance Mesh ?

I'm genuinely curious.  I'm also for doing the right thing, but I first have to know what it is.

When I made my purchase, I bought Sonar Platinum as that's what Cakewalk was/is promoting/selling. What was included in Platinum was the AD2 = an added incentive to buy Platinum.........and not the other way around.
Due to this new monthly membership program, it enables someone to get the whole Platinum package (for those that cannott afford or don't want to get it all at once) and for a very reasonable fee.......(BTW is a great thing that Cake is doing for it's customers).
When people come in here just to exploit a loophole in getting AD2, I then decided and do believe that it's wrong. I certainly wouldn't want this to happen to me if I owned this business, and I'm quite sure most wouldn't.

I'd be very dissappointed if Cake lost this good relationship with XLN Audio due to an exploitation of their softare. I for one, do like the direction that Cakewalk is taking. Of note, I've been a loyal customer (not a fanboi) to Cakewalk as they've given me a product I've truly enjoyed using, so in return, I'd like to support them to continue this good product.

I don't think the loss would be to Addictive as Cake probably pays in full for each redemption code. Addictive doesn't have any monthly deals.

If I don't lock my bike and someone takes it it's still stealing but I'm sure gonna knock myself for not locking it. People are simply made to exploit the world. We can hope that most people won't, but I'm still gonna lock my bike.

There appears to be the assumption that the AD2 stuff represents a lot of money.  Maybe it doesn't.  It is after all being given away, at least to those that buy a year's membership.  Maybe it's worth so little that it's also being given away for those that buy a month's membership.  Maybe the intent is to attract customers to both XLN and Cakewalk in a fashion they just can't resist.  Maybe it's just good marketing.  Maybe that's dishonest ?

Using the internet to shame other people into correct action does not work.  Judging other people does not work.  But it allows the person doing the shaming to show "everyone else" that they are the ethical ones.

If there is a loophole, XLN and Cakewalk will either decide to fix it or not.  Given the way the AD2 client integrates with the store, it should be easy to fix.

It might also be argued that they WANT people to attempt the loophole.  Cakewalk gets a month fee ($50), XLn gets people hooked on AD2, and when they "fix their vending machine", the people who were using the loophole will need to resubscribe.

I am embarassed for people who crucify others on the internet to make themselves look good.

I've never been able to make myself look good on the internet or IRL.

It boils down to integrity.  Some people have it and some people don't.  I don't want the ones that don't to penalize me.

let's try and keep the strutting of one's moral code down to a minimum. acting like some kind of saint on the internet is just silly. the OP got his answer and we can all go home and feel great about ourselves for whatever life choices we make.

Just wonder why nobody can answer my simple question: whether AD2 is blocked or not after a month.
Cakewalk support, where are you?

Here is how to contact Cakewalk support http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2090582
Licensing questions are best handled by contacting Cakewalk directly not by posting on the user forum.

No one has had a chance to order a month subscription and let it expire because it hasn't been out a month.  Besides, most other people here already paid the full price.

The only people who know how it works is XLN and cakewalk and I doubt they are giving any answers on this.

Good luck.

My bet is that it will not work after the subscription expires because kit licenses are checked when you launch AD2.  The kit may physically be on your computer, but that doesn't mean AD2 will let you use it.
