I wanted to reconciliate with Sonar on my MacBook Pro since I have installed a Windows partition through Bootcamp (my desktop computer is now 100% Mac).
 
So I wanted to reinstall Sonar X1 but never was able to complete installation, getting that frustrating Error 1704, seem to be related to conflict with Visual C 2005 (we're in 2015 - Windows installs Visual C 200x (much more recent version - not sure if the problem lies there, but possibly...)
 
Whatever the issue, anyone ever had this issue before ? And/Or is there anything I need to know or try before reinstalling Sonar X1 on Windows 8.1 ?

Run windows update everywhere inc optional updates first... several times so you've got pretty much all the updates done. Then install the latest C++ libraries, it should all be backward compatible I believe... however....

Stand corrected.. Get the latest version of C++ 2005 redistributable. Windows update will probably throw on more patches after it is installed so you should run that afterwards.
