  • New EZDrummer 2 update that provides a fix for legacy EZdrummer projects in SONAR

In the EZdrummer 2.0.2 update that has been released there is a toggle in the Menu selections found in the upper right hand corner of the EZD2 window.  Click the menu button and then navigate to the Sound Engine and then to the SONAR options.  If you check the box that says Show Number of Outputs Dialog on Start Up you will be prompted with a dialog box that will allow you to select 8 or 16 stereo outputs when you open a project with EZdrummer 2.  That way you can work with projects that were created with both versions of EZdrummer and not lose your other softsynth routing set up.

One thing that I have noticed is that the dialog box gets hidden by the SONAR Window so you might have to minimize SONAR to find the dialog box.  I'm going to let them know that this is happening to see if that can be changed.

After installing the update my softsynths went silent in a recent project I'm working on. Thing is I used Superior Drummer in this project so how that happened I have no idea.  It was only one track so I'll just reload the synth and do it over again. I haven't had time to check but I'm hoping it didn't mess with any of my other projects as I have several softsynth tracks loaded.

I am excited but fearful since I lost a LOT of work with the EZ Drummer 2 update.  Fixing outputs/routing was the least of my issues: no audio and no way to freeze or unfreeze was the big deal.  I know I am not the only one who experienced that and it was recreated reliably by Sweetwater.  Does any have experiences or thoughts?

I suppose worst case I could back up all projects externally and then take an Acronis image.  That's a real pain, though.

I spoke too fast when I said, "Yayyy!" Geo524 was quick to report a difficulty, and I see no one reporting success with EZDrummer 2.0.2. Is there a brave soul out there who tried the new version and it worked great with an existing project?

Konradh, I opened an old project that had EZD1 in it and sure enough I lost some of my Synths in the project. I didn't notice it at first, but once I did I tried to unfreeze one synth and couldn't. It was dead.

Before I go to open an old project, I have to stop and think, is EZD in here or did I convert to audio.

I remind everyone to open EZdrummer2, and then Menu to the Sound Engine section where the SONAR options are.  Select the option to ask for the different options 8 or 16.  Then exit the project (don't save it) and reopen it.  When it opens this time you should be queried as to the number of channels you want to use in EZD2 (8 channels if it is a EZD legacy project.)

I know it works.  I got clean EZD projects donated to me from this forum for testing and it worked.

This patch and Mod Bod's method "salvaged" a handful of tunes that had audio problems after upgrading to EZD2.

I violated the cardinal rule of "Don't upgrade when your in the middle of a big project", so I'm glad this patch solved the audio issues on the tunes that had EZD1 in them.
