Also, be careful which track is selected when pasting as that will determine where the paste starts vertically.
Thought that was worth a bold/Italic
Not that I've ever made that mistake, of course.
Hey, Craig, you know me elsewhere as
blue2blue. As you may recall, I've been with CW/Sonar since the audio beginning,
CWPA 6.0 in '96.
I've just updated to
X3e bld 252.
I'm running into what appear to be some pretty serious bugs in the copy and paste operations. I just compared the same operations in 8.5.3 and X3e -- and X3e appears
seriously broken by any standard. For one thing, things don't even necessarily happen the same way twice. To say I'm enormously frustrated is an enormous understatement.
Let me ask this: in X3, how would one, for instance, double the length (by copying) of a 4 bar intro section (3:1 to 7:1, let's say) to 8 bars (so that it occupies 3:1 to 11:1) across all tracks?
In 8.5 and before it was easy. You would
select-all, drag across the timebar to limit the selection to 3:1-7:1,
copy, and then
paste with the
slide-to-make-room option and
align-to-measures options on. Bingo. (Or you could use the select by time menu option.)
But when I try it in X3e, all kinds of wacky things happen -- with apparent inconsistency, no less. Sometimes one thing happens, sometimes another, even when I carefully mimic my previous actions. But the one thing that DOESN'T happen is the ability to select all of that time slice and copy and paste it. Sometimes some tracks get copied. Sometimes others.
Sometimes select-all seems to select everything. Sometimes it doesn't. But even when stuff of similar nature (MIDI clips, say)
appears to be selected, it doesn't
all paste or delete (depending). Sometimes some track clips are pasted to one place in the timeline, sometimes another.
And Paste-Slide to make room definitely does NOT work.
I just tried select-all and split -- but only SOME clips split. I then applied Project- Insert (4) Measures, going through all the motions but ZILCH, no change. Nothing budged. No measures were inserted.
I'm
beside myself. After
almost two decades of mostly happy use, I can't even imagine having these kinds of problems with a product version that has already been through FIVE fix-it updates.
