  • New Bandlab version will mess with your Platinum install

Just a warning. The new product and Platinum are still tied together at some level. After I installed the "update" my carefully curated plug in menu's were trashed. Problematic VST's that were excluded are now back and many of my purchased plugs won't show up. When switching back to Platinum I find that it happened there too. Many hours of work - poof -

What else will this thing nerf?

All my settings in Platinum were left intact. The only issue I had was quite a few missing VSTs in the Bandlab version. It turned out to be a simple fix. Some of the oaths to my VSTs had not been carried over so I had to add them back in. All is good!

I had no problems at all.

Both versions are working perfectly.

Haven't noticed any problems here. The entire install seems to be separated from Splat with separate ini files etc. so I can't see how it could mess up Splat.

For Cakewalk/Bandlab I just had to manually add some folders where some of my VSTs reside.  It took me about 5 minutes.  While NOTHING has changed or been deleted in my old Sonar Platinum software.
Sorry you had a problem, but from my own experience and what others have already posted, I think your issue was something unique for your particular setup.  I hope you can get it straightened out.

+1 didn't mess mine up (that I know of).  I too had to add a link for a missing Lexicon VST.

You mean the Lexicon plugin we’ve been copying from earlier versions on Sonar? Thanks for the info. Just wanted to know if there was any crosstalk

What would happen if you uninstalled SPLAT and CbB and installed CbB first then reinsert all saved personal stuff (templates, etc.) after SPLAT reinstall?  Would SPLAT have any affect on CbB?  Rhetorical but might be worth considering.

Kind regards,

Not all menu customizations appear to be copied over on installation of CbB. Comparing their respective folders in SONAR and CbB, I see multiple .pgl files for SONAR but just the one default .pgl in CbB.

That would suggest that your menu layouts might revert to the default in CbB. However, that shouldn't affect the original files.

Have a look at the datestamps in %appdata%\cakewalk\sonar platinum\plug-in menu layouts. Those datestamps will reflect the last time layout changes were saved. If SONAR is open, you'll see a couple temporary copies (.tmp extension) but those can be ignored. None of the others should have recent dates - unless, of course, you've recently made changes to them yourself.
