No issues here. If you see missing plug ins go to Edit>Preferences>VST and set the paths for your folders.

I was a bit unorganized in my vst installations prior to this. If this is you maybe do a search and write down all of the folder locations or consolidate. I have mine in half a dozen different folders. I also had a bunch  of unregistered demos it scanned that I'll need to remove. This is forcing me to get more organized.

I have the same problem with VSTs installing themselves in different folders and then having to add new paths for the plugin manager to scan. Can you just cut and paste the VST files so they're all in one or two paths?

for simple installations yes, but for some manufacturers you will get errors if the plugin can not be found exactly where it was installed

I noticed in the Windows Registry that Cakewalk was pointing to my SPLAT location for my plugin menus, but what was loaded in my plugin list wasn't reflecting what was in this location.

Have changed over to the new Core folder location and copied over my plugin layouts to the new core folder.

All fine now.

This is true with BFD locations. It will flag a ghosted file. It really doesn't matter if you scan 10 folders. It takes longer the first time. After that it is a fairly fast launch.

Everything worked out fine for me, immediately after the update/install I was up and running without a hitch.
I did notice that my downloaded themes were missing from preferences. I just found them and put them back...no bigee!

Firstly, I woud like to thank Meng and the Bandlab team for keeping alive this amazing software. I love it! It is by far the best DAW that I have worked with. My only gripe - and it's only a small one in the grand scheme of things - is the name. 'Cakewalk' sounds like a kids toy. Sonar sounded good and very professional. Logic and Cubase all sound like great seasoned products. Cakewalk sounds terrible. Is it too late to change the name to something more befitting of a professional and brilliant music making software?

Plugin manager is a shared component. Even if CbB updated it it should make no difference to your Platinum install.
We'll investigate.

Still getting errors on Waves Shell on both Splat and CbB after last CbB update, during VST scan on both DAWs.  Reported to Waves and waiting for answer.

This is exactly what used to happen for SONAR (and CWPA before that) upgrades to new versions.
(that's why SPLAT was great, because we didn't have ot do this every year...)

You just have to go through the paths, and copy things like templates, plugin menus, FX chains, customised rum maps etc etc to the new folders - or else point the new version to the old folders.

This is not anything new...

jbraner this is exactly right. CbB was set up to be like a new Cakewalk SKU so that it lives side by side with the SONAR versions. As a result there are a few things like before that need to be reconfigured the first time. However going forward it will continue to be the same version so no changes will be necessary once this is done.

I think I best wait until everything is settled.  If anyone could mess up an install, I would be the one.  I cannot afford to lose access to anything in my existing Sonar Platinum Lifetime right now.  I will be watching and reading.  Thank you so much for moving on this project. Meng.

It should have been clearly stated up-front that this new software would put hooks into your current Platinum install. The release looks to have been rushed and based on various comments it was not fully baked.

Hi Noel,
That's what I figured. It's a lot easier not to have to re-set the paths, copy files etc every year (like we used to do) ;)
(plus there is a lot of redundant files)
