I know it is about platinum, precisely why I commented on my use of X3. I hope that the problem gets resolved as i am not going too be changing my mr16x out, I just won't update. I am finding it hard to believe that it is problem with platinum though, seems like a much more basic problem.

In 24 hours+ seat time I have not had a single occurrence of this with Sonar Platinum/ MR816. Connectivity is rock solid here. That said, something is obviously afoot with Sonar Platinum if installing it causes a few people to have dropouts.

Leonard:
Can you share some computer/connection specs? Curious as to what motherboard, FireWire card, and OS you are using. I do have occasional dropouts on playback, I have to use the "medium" buffer of the yutil application,
Thanks, and good to know it works with platinum. I really like the mr16x.

I'm at least 8 hours from home atm. It's a Sweetwater Creation Station 400 ( 2nd gen i7 2600) purchased with the MR816X back in 07/2012. I'll post more detail later.

It Does Have one minor issue. 15 minutes after power up, audio drops out for a second. Ten seconds later audio drops out again for another second. After that it's bulletproof. Like clockwork it's been doing this since I purchased it. I don't even think about it. I figure something trying to "phone home" is interrupting connectivity.

Where the X-Station driver completely disables the MR816 all other audio interfaces remain selectable in Sonar in my system. ( TC Helicon, Line 6 GX. Maybe the MR816X driver isn't all that robust?

That's interesting. My playback drops out when I first use it as well. I allways thought that something was being read into ram such as an audio file. It gets better the longer I leave it on unless I use the "small" default buffer in the yutil app. Then it drops out  like crazy.  Tried looking up your computer but it gave me no specs. I am really interested in the FireWire card. I have a SIIG with the TI chips. Any help in any timeframe will be appreciated.

I really don't know why mine drops out. Fortunately it's barely a nuisance. I'm also very happy with the MR816X.

Stats: hope this helps..

Dumb Q. What is the Yutil app?

Thanks for the info! The yutil is a small program that changes the buffer size for the Mr series. If you install the update from Steinberg it creates a "tools" folder(that is not the full name, but you should be able to find it. Under that folder is another folder labeled "utility" and you can run the yutil application from there. It sounds like you never needed to deviate from the the default setting which is great. Details are on the Steinberg support pages.

Odd that the OP has not resonded. Wonder if the problem was fixed.
