Actually, there is a gear on the right of your username.  Click on that and you can set your paths.

You have pressed the settings button before install?

That only allows you to set plugin paths and the download location

Incidentally, Pro Tools 11 is the same way, you get no option for where to install.
I find it hard to comprehend that software companies will STILL do this...it's
ridiculous...especially in today's multi-hard drive, mulit-boot, multitasking world...

I also very much want stuff to go where want it to go.  I believe the argument is, and I seem to recall it coming directly from a Cakewalk representative (and I'm paraphrasing), is that not having the option prevents the uninitiated from screwing things up [and then bothering Cakewalk to get help repairing things].  I can sort of understand that, but I'd really like to have an 'advanced' and maybe hard-to-get-to option through which I could have complete control.

Maybe now's the time, since the CCC is there for those that want it simple.  All that is needed is for the separate installers to now allow all destinations to be specified.  I have a feeling though that some parts of Sonar aren't programmed to be able to look elsewhere for what they need.

Do the installer download from your online account and then run them individually. That will give full control. If you already have used the CCC to install Sonar etc then just click on the gear icon to find where the installers were downloaded to.

To this day I've thought it's necessary to have the core program on the same HDD as the OS for reliable functioning.
I've assumed it's more like a rule still with any complicated software.

This isn't cakewalk support these are user forums, cakewalk chimes in when they can. At the time of your post the thread was only 7 hours old and it's about 9am in Boston right now. I wouldn't say incredible, rather they were in bed.

Nah, I'm not complaining that they arent replying to my question but this seems like a question that has been posted by tons of people in the forum since the launch of the new Sonar. Thats why I think its a bit strange. I know this isnt a support forum.

From memory I think they said they were working on improvements to command centre on another thread.
This isn't a bug (and there is a workaround) but do I agree with everybody else. I would put something in the feature and ideas forum (or vote on it if somebody already has).
