I downloaded the rest of the extra stuff the other day and finally got around to doing a reset and rescan yesterday.  But the error message popped up stating a load error for mfxshell.x64 .

Is there anything that can be done about this?  Is the same version of the file also in X3e where it can be copied to replace the (possible) corrupted one in Platinum?

I'm just guessing here...but I am assuming that it is a shell for 32 bit plugs....?  Would that be a correct assumption?

It is not part of SONAR, the file came with http://xlutop.com/buzz/zip/dxshell_v1.0.4b.zip and is a MFX to VST wrapper. Not sure the file is necessary for SONAR, what 32bit mfx plug-ins are you using?

Not sure scook.  I do have Sony Vegas 11 (32 and 64 bit) and Vegas 12 (64 bit) installed.  The only reason I still have the 32 bit Vegas 11 installed is because I have some older songs from a project that were mixed with the 32 bit Vegas 11...and if I ever need to bring those songs up and edit them...I would need it since some of the plugs used in the songs were 32 bit.  This was before I purchased X1.  I have been doing my audio in Sonar since then.

Edited to add:
I will just disregard the file during a rescan since it is not needed in Sonar.  I only do video work with Vegas now.

This wrapper is for MIDI effects. I did not realize Vegas did MIDI sequencing.

vegas doesn't, but seems to feel the need to scan lotsa stuff it has no business doing on install. had to move some vsts to get vegas 13 to install. once installed i was able to move them back. i have no explanation, nor does sony.

I don't believe this is a Vegas scan issue; it is an issue with the new Cakewalk scanner. This is why I suggested the file may be unnecessary. Since Ted started with X1, all the MFX plug-ins bundled with SONAR had both 32bit and 64bit versions.

I didn't realize that the file is a midi FX wrapper.  So I will just tell Sonar to not load it when scanning.

I did start with X1...but when I installed a new system drive about a year ago...I only installed X3.  I did install R-mix and Guitar Rig 4LE from my X2 disks.  But that's the only things I installed from the previous versions.

Thanks guys for the info.
