I'd say this isn't a feature, for the fear of the infinite feedback loop.
It would be very easily done,  
more so, more newbies are likely to do it and have problems, than people using the feature.
on the rare occasion i'vI've needed to do anything like it, I bounce, as it's much quicker than routing out and back in and then playba k recording.
as far as building metronomes goes, all the sounds are in the media browser so you can quickly get say 4 bars made up in an audio track and them groove clip it, to extend it to as much as you need.


it is about 15 years I always make my metronome manually but just wanted to know if it is possible to record it instead .
as far as I know in protools and logic you can record from your bus to track .


I used to had vmc7200 console and I could route the path directly from inside the mixer and was not necessary to use patch bay but it seems in v studio 700 wouldn't allow you to do that.

If anything, play it back thru your monitors and record it, and mute the output of your recording track.
