I reckon Sonar X3 is better than this new artist Platinum etc

I already have all those effects and ad drums and the upgrade to me seems pointless
Sonar X3 works great and I will stay with It and make music
All of these upgrades are getting most people to follow like sheep and you will never make music with the amount of learning curve

If you have additive drums and all the effects already ,you would think Cakewalk would slice off more for loyalty owners.
Just compare Artist with Sonar x3 and X3 Is better if you have all the bits and pieces.
It Is much better to wait for an upgrade knowing what you are getting.
With this it is all guesswork and takes the fun out of waiting for the next big upgrade.
Why buy cds when you can go back to vinyl!!!---much more fun!!

Um, X3 does not have Vocal Sync, Mix recall, enhanced midi editing features or Craig Anderton's Amp Sims (and some enhancements that are "under the hood").  For early adopters of X3, AD2 is also new.

You can certainly argue that the value isn't there based on those things and how you use Sonar, but to say that there is nothing in the upgrade is disingenuous.

It appears that you have decided that this new membership model and what has been provided in the new sonar is not for you.  If that is the case, please don't pollute the forums with mis-information about what is included or not and how it compares to X3 (or any other version of Sonar).

I hear you subtlearts, but I don't want someone to read that post and think there is nothing in the upgrade.

Vocal sync etc Pah!!
Pity people cannot sing without pitching their voices
"Here come the robots"
I cannot sing ,so i do not bother
nor can Bob Dylan sing in tune!!! He should retire!!

Ok - do you load  platinum over x3 ,or do you have to uninstall everything and reload
I have additive drums  and packs and a lot of the effects and full sonar soft synths
Re-loading all of that would be so much of  a pain
I do hope as you said that there is a lot going on under the hood and no cakewalk mechanics prolonging our agony.
They could put one update in at a time and stretch it over the year  and you would be none the wiser.
I think it is a clever marketing move which i do hope does not leave us hoodwinked!!

From your comment, you don't even know what vocal sync is.  It is not autotune or pitch correction.  It is used to adjust the timing of vocal so if you have a doubled vocal or backing vocals you can line them up timing wise to make them tighter.

I still have X3 installed on my machine, but I doubt I will use it now that I have platinum.  I did not install some of the content I already had and Platinum found it just fine.

Perhaps more crucially, anyone doing dialog for picture will find it helpful. When dialog is recorded in the field, there's usually background noise that can't be in the final footage. So, actors "loop" the dialog by listening to their original dialog and doubling what they said. Any deviations between the two make the sound appear out of sync with the lip movements. VocalSync tightens up the dialog.

Not that the "I have no idea what I'm talking about but I'll comment anyway" guy cares, but others might find this helpful if they stumble on this thread.

[Jerry, that was considerate of you but for the record, I don't have a problem with putting the same post in two different threads that deal with the same topic. I don't think others would have a problem with it either. I didn't make this a PM because others might wonder about the same thing.]
