In three years time there maybe a single function that replaces both VocalSync and the drum replacer. In which case you would get the new feature, but not VocalSync or Drum replacer.
I can understand that, but only if it really happens the way you describe in your example which is at the moment just a "maybe" example. So, effectively, taking the same example, could we conclude that I would not get vocal sync if I upgrade two years later only if it gets replaced by an enhanced or better plugin with some new name which then means that I do get a better one anyway, right ? But, if it has not been replaced, then I should still have it two years later, right ? For example, I see we have an enhanced audiosnap in the new Sonar. Now, unless there's an even better audiosnap developed, I should still get the same in two years time OR an even better one if it comes about, correct ? It cant be that Cakewalk totally removes audiosnap from the core program, correct ? If its removed, that would be disastrous. Now audiosnap is just an example here...
ok, Vvocal is a good example. if you bought Sonar before Vvocal was introduced, then didn't upgrade again until X3 you would not get Vvocal, you get Melodine instead.
Personally I much prefer Melodine, but there are plenty of people that prefer Vvocal and there are some things it does way better than Melodine.
Now imagine that in 3 years time Cakewalk have created their own version of Vvocal, which they add to the core program. Melodine gets removed, and if you haven't bought an upgrade which included it, then you'll not get it.
Things like Melodine, AD2, TH2, etc, may seem like "just more bundled content" but they are expensive and form part of the overall package that makes Sonar a complete studio solution and not just a fancy .wav recorder.
This extra content will change over time as needs and expectations change. If something gets added and removed during a time where your membership has lapsed, you will not get that content.
