I wish we had more time for the $149 promo subscription to move from X3 to Platinum. It is almost February and Platinum has not been released to the general Sonar base.

Can an official Cakewalk representative PLEASE answer this question.  It has been asked numerous times and I am not aware that it has been answered.  In one case, the statement was made that Cakewalk would not take our money until the product was available, but that seems to not be true.

Specifically, How long will the $149 upgrade price be available?

It seems to me that considering the implications of this new program, Cakewalk owed its users a reasonable opportunity to evaluate the demo version of Platinum before making the commitment.  I'd like to think the offer will be good at least 30 days from the point that the demo can be installed.

To me, that's worth my $149 now. It's up to Cakewalk to ensure that it's worth my $199 this time next year.

From the "Members are also entitled to free technical support and discounted Membership renewals." quote I suspect the renewal will be more like $149

I've already upgraded for $125 to platinum at JRRShop, but for the others it would be nice if they set a more precise date for the end of the $149 offer though rather than the vague "possibly into February"

Thank you for that reference.  However
<<At least through January and probably February>>

isn't an answer.

It would appear they have not fixed the date. I m sure you can recall previous Cakewalk promotions with soft cutoff dates.

Yes, but in all those cases, the customer knew what he was buying.  In this case, you are buying a promise of some additional, unspecified features during the year, and can't even demo the features that been announced.

I'm not trying to be overly dramatic because I'll probably buy the upgrade, but I don't want to mess with this until everything is shipping and I have a break in my projects in about 10 days. That will probably still be in January, so it should work out, but considering the magnitude of this policy change, it would be nice if the company would have clearer answers.

I believe there is plenty of information about what is included with the purchase. I would imagine Cakewalk will provide at least one notice when the promo will end, closer to the date. They may not have a date certain just yet. At least, that is what is looks like based on the information we have at the moment.

The reality is that however you purchase now you are getting the last years worth of development for your money.

The best statement of clarity so far.

Upgrading now pays for all the work already performed for the new version.

And therefore anything that comes next is FREE icing on the cake.

Or: I get the current version for free, and for less than 67 cents per day, I get 12 months of new stuff.

To those of you pissed off cuz you buy at the last minute at a steep discount::::

You have saved money for years. And even at the new rate you have still paid less over the time you have used Sonar.

But now, you get to pay like the rest of us.

This will mean more money for CW to use to hire people to add stuff, and respond quicker to support requests.

EVERYBODY involved gets to have more fun with less stress for a WAY REASONABLE cost.

Almost 10 years ago I sent a message to the CW managers that I wanted them to charge me $50 per quarter for continuous support.

They were not ready to do so.

I have been complaining for years that Sonar was way too inexpensive.

Finally we get a great offer that covers all the bits needed to provide us with a great program for essentially no cost.

Most users will spend more on soda and coffee in a month than they will on the yearly Sonar upgrade. And they derive far more happiness from Sonar.

Many of the same users will use Sonar for more hours in a week than they use their car. And they will spend far more on the car in a month than the yearly price of Sonar.

I bet it is mostly these same people that find spending LESS THAN 67 CENTS PER DAY FOR THE NEW PROGRAM AND A YEAR's WORTH OF EXTRAS is somehow objectionable.

And we do not know yet all of the wonderful changes that await us.

Can I get an "AMEN!"
