It might be a good idea to avoid making product announcements about competing products or discussing the announcement in this thread

just sayin'

I think the irony is the reason for the post ... CW comes out with a subscription plan and then Avid follows immediately. I think we are seeing a trend.

Except we don't have a subscription plan. Avid is going to charge you $30/month and after 12 months if you stop, you own nothing. That's subscription. In our plan, you can pay upfront and own everything plus get updates and new features for 12 more months. You can also choose to pay monthly and after 12 months you own everything as well. Huge difference.

Posting about alternative products is fine with me.

I do not have or use other than Reaper for DAW software.

So being informed is good for me and others who use CW products.

And it may occasionally alert the CW dudes to something they need to know.

To respond with "We don't say those word 'round these parts" only maintains ignorance, not knowledge.

The subject of the thread is clear, it is a Cakewalk product announcement thread. There are places to discuss other software. To my knowledge no one responded to any post in this thread with

I have had Cakewalk since 1991...Cakewalk 2.0 (still have my floppy disk)...Never have posted (the new SSO made it easy)...A few thoughts...

1.  Cakewalk has always had the best midi program known to man...
2.  With Cakewalk Sonar they broke new ground and have been progressing well with pro channel and other features
3.  They are embracing 3rd party relationships like XLN audio, Celemony, Overloud, etc.  They have had failures but seem to get the 3rd party thing (no one is the best at everything)...
4. The new subscription model is brilliant and they have innovated around this like no other company I have seen...you own the product after twelve months...take that Office 365...

Thank you Cakewalk for a long history of staying ahead of the curve...

Thanks for reproaching me when I am reproaching others for their OT posts. I do like the attention.

The $149 introductory offer is still available thought
JRR no longer is offering a discount.

Any news on the trial version?
Will there be an announcement?

I think changing the names of the levels was stupid, at best.
I have heard people describe themselves as an "amateur."
I have heard people describe themselves as a "professional."
I have NEVER, EVER heard anyone describe themselves as a "platinum."

This change has provided confusion but NO value to anyone but the marketing dudes who got paid for pitching the change.

Better would have been "King." Or "Emperor."  Or something else a bit less inane than the name of a precious metal.    "Platinum" is so five years ago.

There was no good reason to change.  'Tis sad no one in the room said, "Not a good idea."

Totally agree.

I actually like the change to the Sonar names. Platinum = better than gold.

Professional is more descriptive.
If it aint broke don't fix it.
Often companies make name changes just because they can.
