I've been with Sonar since V7, and bought every new version.  But I didn't think of it as a "subscription" or some other marketing terminology.  I just bought the new version program.

+1
At the end if i buy the full upgrade to x4 all is like before couse we usually buy the new Sonar version every year........right??
best

Seth Kellogg [Cakewalk]The new system is far easier (IMHO) and you don't have to worry about if that was a zero or an 'O' in your activation codes.

This has been a problem with so many different software products for so long. I'm glad you guys are doing something about it.

Three thumbs up.

Three questions (although one has been asked before by someone else and I didn't see an answer):

  1. When is the cut-off for the introductory upgrade pricing?
  2. In the feature list here: (https://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Versions) what do the dots mean? I get that each color is matched to a version, but obviously they mean varying levels of something or they'd just be x's or something, right?
  3. Is there a list somewhere of the differences between Sonar X3 Producer and Sonar Platinum?

I think, this subscription model is pretty good and fair. I like the possibility to "try" the product for a month or two (for a small price of $40) and then decide whether I like it or not. And I can do that anytime I want.

But let's assume I prepay Sonar for 12 months and then I quit the membership (january-december 2015). Then a new update comes out in March 2015, I subscribe again for a month, I download that update, use it for a month and decide I do not like it, so I quit the subscription.

As I understand it now, once I do not renew the subscription, I lose the update.

The question is, what would exactly happen with my Sonar installation?? Would it reinstall itself to its previous state or deactivate completely to demo mode (demo mode of which version?) or simply the last update installation would be deactivated and I would not event notice it?

Imagine, I install a new update on Saturday, my subscription ends on Sunday. On Monday I launch Sonar and what happens?

Thanks

The dots are just marketing x's :).

For sure you are still entitled to the last version from your 12 month period. Haven't used Command Center yet, but AFAIK updates never happen automatically so downgrades will not either. So most likely thing to happen is that your installed version will get disabled or go in demo mode, and you would have to do the downgrade yourself.

Thanks. I am afraid, "downgrade" would require a complete reinstall. Meaning, uninstalling Sonar, installing new version, restoring user settings, templates...

Seth, is the Command Center going to act as a download manager? Will it be able to tolerate poor internet connections?

What I'm getting at really is it going to be able to save the files and if the connection drops pickup where it left off and continue downloading.

The reason this is important to me is my ISP is getting pretty draconian about limiting the amount that can be downloaded in a day/month. When I reach certain thresholds they reduce the speed to a crawl and sometimes drop the connection.

I'm in a rural area in the Philippines and there really are few options for internet service.

Thanks.

Do we have to go to the dealers in order to pre-order?
Can we order at this price (platinum) in the cakewalk store?
When the new version comes out does this mean that the prices will go up on the same day?
