Not knowing the new EULA is indeed the reason why I am asking this question ;)

So, Ryan, as you are already on it, any details, please, on how bug fixing/repairs/warranty periods/refunds are handled within this new licensing model?


I'm probably the wrong person to ask legal questions to, and actually on my phone and don't have access to the new EULA. You might be picking on the wrong guy ;)

However, I will say your examples seem like the exact reason we spent the last few years building the foundation for this new model. I think you'll find that not only will bug fixes and excellent new features be delivered in a better and more consistent way, but also that legal binding documents aside, Cakewalk has a long standing history of taking care of its customers. The types of scenarios you are explaining are ones where we often resort to thinking how people think versus how contracts read. There is always gray area and we have made exceptions to the rule many times in the past when things were reasonable. Maybe its our downfall, but I think you'll find Cakewalk is employed by humans and not robots. From what I understand, Gibson also has an extremely firm philosophy of taking care of its customers as well. Anyhow, it's up to us to convince people whether or not to sticking to the plan is worth it.

I'll let the EULA speak for itself when its available, but I felt the need to remind everyone that Cakewalk is an extremely reasonable company to work for and with.

Wow, this is going to take me some time. I downloaded the Command Center. I have no products. I suppose, since I let programs install stuff in different places (on this computer) I am going to have to add folders but... shouldn't something be there? I have VSTs in the default folder.
Of course, I had to change my password but thankfully I have that sorted out. I had Windows remember it and I forgot it. I am able to sign in to everything again I think, I have not tried the store or my account but I'm (obviously, on the forum). I was logged into Command Center, where I have no products... I think I need to read the FAQ. I hope this is easy. I have enough problems.

Nothing is supposed to be there yet.  Not until the new product is released....so you don't have any problems...

A few people have asked this general question and I have the same question.
I think the faq needs more clarification.
 
If I let my Membership expire after 12 months, can I renew it again later?
                    Yes, you can come back any time and pay the Renewal rate.
Will the renewal rate be the same after 3 months, after 6months, 1 or 2 years? 
I am talking more about paying the full 12 months in advance. Do you pay extra to "catch up?"
 
 
For the last 3 years I have gotten the new version but I usually wait 3 to 6 months when they repeat the
introductory offer and/or offer a free video with it.

We'll let Cleverbridge know. We don't host nor program these pages. Seems like an overreaction just to try to make a point anyway.

This time it is just a reaction.

Point out one flaw to try to discredit everything else. Weird way of trying to tear people down versus just saying "hey I noticed something weird and wanted to help out by mentioning it".

As I have mentioned, I have worries. And this new shop is the reason I have these worries...

I don't think a styling error on a web page hosted by another company should try to convince people to be concerned about the future of Cakewalk and our products if you ask me.

If the first thing you see on the way to get new update is a bug (really more than one), I am concerned.
SONAR depends from many products coming from other companies, so "another company" explanation is a bad argument (if you ask me).
 

I'm just saying its a minor example. Cleverbridge has been an excellent company to work with so far. What you are unaware of is all the insane and excellent work they HAVE done in the last month. As with any deadline, priorities are made. This was not on the list of major priorities. Your example is a minor nitpick, though obviously it should still be resolved. My argument isn't whether or not it should be resolved. My argument is that this is an odd example to bring up in regards to whether or not you're convinced if Cakewalk can offer a solid product. I think we can.

Your shop examples are legitimate and should and will be resolved. In the grand scheme of things though, this new shop is light years ahead of our old one. What we've already been able to achieve with it is more then we were ever able to archieve with the old store.

Really! you don't even have all the bugs out of X3!!! and now you want to start a "paid subscription DAW" to replace everything! lol!
Lets talk..... I say "CLASS ACTION SUIT!" you sold me X3e and it does NOT work. off the top of my head, channel strip eq will only work with preset. VST loader loads differently on its own and random plugins don't even show up... Even the ones that came with X3! lol.... CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! I have had to reinstall X3 many times because magically plugins become installed wrong!, Freeze track doubles the tracks...   
 
I've ben using Cakewalk since it was 12tone over 20 years and this is upgrade (lol) if you want to call it that is the last straw for me! HELLO ProTools!
BTW... and if you can't  FIX X3, I want my money back! it's crap and you don't stand behind ANYTHING you have crate!

Judge for yourself. Read section "7. Disclaimer of Warranties" in the EULA for OS X Yosemite. This kind of language is very common.

Thanks Beep, you've been busy. I may not completely understand, well I may hardly understand but I've bought everything Cake has offered in the past few years and since S3PE, except I skipped S8. I will always go with TOTL, Platinum. I was just wondering, but I know what I'll do.
Now I just to need to figure out why Command Center says I have no products. I'm really not going to have more than a few minutes to figure this out in the next 10 days, that's one of the reasons I want to know what the time window is for the 149 upgrade.
Anyway... I'm sure I'll get it sorted out and I'm moving to a new DAW (computer anyway) so yeah, I'll get it sorted out.. but shouldn't something show up in Command Center? No?

I'm very sorry if this has already been asked, I'm running late and couldn't read much past the second page...
 
My SO purchased X3 Producer for me during Cyber Monday, December 1st as a Christmas present (Thus I wasn't in possession of it until later in the month, just saying.) I finally got it installed (had some issues) and registered around Jan. 4th.
 
Then I come on here to see there is/will be a new version. I understand the upgrade from x3 Producer to Sonar Platinum is $149 for a year.... but is there any way to get a discount, myself, since I literally JUST installed my copy less than two weeks ago??

Larry, you are still one of the most helpful people here. Most people are but you always help me and I appreciate it. I know I have some dumb questions but you always answer anyway.
