I am a "casual" user of X3 Producer, meaning that I am simply a hobbyist that uses very limited features of Sonar but as I explore the product and learn about the various features, I get more benefit from the software. I have a been a long-time Cakewalk pre-Sonar and Sonar user and have been taking advantage of the occasional offers to upgrade Sonar, which I suspect will no longer be offered. My expectation was that I would use Sonar X3 Pro for several years, then upgrade to a newer version, which I would again use for several years.
Does this new plan mean that for users like me, we would not be able to get "free" maintenace releases to fix issues, (e.g. Sonar X1 going through several "fix" patches to get a stable system) if we just want to keep X3 Pro for a couple years?? From what I see, I might have very little, if any, use for the newest features in the product.
Does this also mean that technical support for Sonar X3 Pro will be limited or no longer available if I am trying to resolve a problem going forward?
It kind of sounds like this new plan is really aimed at music professionals who use the product at the expense of the non-professional, casual user. Should I be looking at ending my use of Sonar in favor of another product/vendor?
