Hm, not sure I like this either. I guess I've been used to getting the $99.00 upgrades when offered, so this in effect is now going to cost me 50% more than what I'm used to paying. It's probably more fair, but still...
I guess this is the end of sales and discounts on the actual DAW, is that right?
Also, very disappointed in the feature set even released so far. The only thing remotely that seems of interest to me is the Audiosnap additions, but from what I see now (and maybe there's more, forgive me if I'm wrong), it doesn't look like much has really been added or changed. There's better detection, I get that, but I didn't see any more options on online or off-line algorithms. I would have really like to have a much better real-time algorithm.
Also, tbh, what I have seen (so far) in the initial release is a lot of cosmetic or small features, and not stuff that really gets my blood pumping. A better looking piano keyboard in the PRV and stacked controls might be nice, but for me much better Audiosnap enhancements, auto slice to drum/sample machine, and fully nestable tracks, or (gasp!) even a Mac version would make it much more likely for me to pony up the monthly or yearly costs.
So, for now, I'm going to sit on the sidelines and see how this grand experiment shakes out. It will be interesting to see if other DAW providers try it.
