One thing I'm wondering about the more I think about it is how Cake are going to manage Feature releases vs. bug fix releases...or if they're going to be mushed together. And, I reckon, is that going to mean there's a complicated user pool of folks who opted in/out at various times and have wildly different versions of the software. I'm guessing this has been thought out, but I wonder how it'll play out.

Also, the whole "you own it" at the end of your membership period, what if you need to do a reinstall? How do they keep all the different versioning intact? At least in the prior model you had your core point version and then any updates relevant to it. Now you'll have a whole range of possible updates available.

I mean some people are acting like we're dealing with some brand new sketchy upstart company looking to take the money and run. For sure if that were the case I would most certainly not drop any coin but I also wouldn't bother angrily posting about it like I had already been ripped off.

Think about... Cakewalk has been around for what? 20? 30 years? They are now owned by Gibson who have been around for what? 60? 70? 80 years?! I really don't think they are gonna pull the software equivalent of a smash and grab at this point.

Can't comment as to the first thing but apparently you will have access to all the released versions that came out during your active membership through the Command Center. That way you can roll back and install whichever version you want kind of like how your store account has all your purchases available for download.

And this new subscription model is out for what, 0 years? I think it's pretty understandable when there's some kind of questioning on that model, isn't it?

So:
Let's say I have previously purchased the PRO versions, and some Pro-channel items and I now choose to purchase the PRO version and not the PLATINUM version.

What happens when one of the Pro-Channel items now included only with the Platinum version is updated?

What was Producer has become Platinum. What was Studio is now Professional.

Studio/Professional has an expandable ProChannel. Any additional modules you've purchased or had from X3 Producer will still work.

The ProChannel modules that came with X3 Producer would stay unchanged.
