I recently upgraded from SONAR X3 to SONAR Platinum.  The instruments listed below do not work with SONAR Platinum.  Is it possible that the licensing for these products were good ONLY for SONAR X3?  How do I get a version of these products that will work with SONAR Platinum?

Digital Sound Factory Sounds
Steinway Grand Piano
Yamaha Grand Piano
Hohner Clavinet

BTW - These were purchased from the Cakewalk Store.

Beyond this the product appears to be fairly solid.

Could you elaborate on "do not work" ?  What exactly happens and are you getting any error messages ?

I don't think there's any reason for DSF samples to not work.  At least I hope not.

They should all work in Platinum just as in X3. Have you moved the DSF folder?
When you open up X3, do they play as they should? What are you actually experiencing when trying to use them?

Hi Ray,

I suspect that when your installed Platinum and the associated soft-synth, which used those sound sets, the synth may be making reference to a different file path from where your initial (or previous) synth installation was set.  Perhaps a little digging into those settings will reveal the problem.  If that is the case, and the path cannot be changed in the synth's settings, you may have to copy the programs/preferences in question to the present location (with the other default soundsets are) for an easy resolution.

Hit back if you need additional help.

Kind regards,

Also make sure that Sonar Platinum is set to run as adminstrator.

It may not be the reason your synths fail to load, but having downloaded via the Command Center I overlooked this requirement and my IK Multimedia synths were greyed out :-)

I found this on Steam forum page dealing with the DS_MULTISAMPLE_NOT_FOUND error...

'Ok, I found out the problem. Basically what happened is that I had my old plugin folder and the new plugin folder linked for the plugins, it got confused because of me having two cakewalk sound centers. Works now.

It was the VST Scan Folder list, just had to make sure it wasn't scanning my old copy that also had the same instrument plug-in'

 Hope this helps :-)

By the way, I tried running SONAR Platinum as Administrator.  It did not work.  Same error messages appeared.

I have another question.  Under Preferences -> File -> VST Settings -> VST Scan Paths

Are the file paths searched recursively?  For example; I currently have the following paths:
c:\program files (x86)\cakewalk\vstplugins
c:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins

I'm still getting the same errors.  What paths do I need to add?  Do I only need to provide the root folder?  Are the subfolders scanned automatically?

I think I got it.  Hallelujah!  One more question.  Are both of the following paths required?

c:\program files (x86)\cakewalk\vstplugins
c:\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins
