This is true and it can be done prior to installation. For example, to relocate the dimpro multisample folder to s:\samples\dimpro\multisamples, run cmd.exe as administrator and issue the following commands
- mkdir "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro"
- mkdir "s:\samples\dimpro\multisamples"
- mklink /j "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples" "s:\samples\dimpro\multisamples"
When CCC installs DimPro, the multisample data will be written into "s:\samples\dimpro\multisamples"
The same operation may be done after installation by moving the Multisample folder to "s:\samples\dimpro\multisamples" then issuing the mklink command.
THANK-YOU for posting this!
I just tried this out to move my Dimension content to a separate SSD (new Win 8.1 install), and it worked great!
One "quirk" when installing DSF add-on sound packs after performing the mklink command ~
The DSF installers would simultaneously install their samples in
both the default Cakewalk/Dimension installation folder,
AND in the folder specified by the mklink command.
I was able to delete the samples from the default folders and everything worked fine; just a bit odd that I wound up with double installs in separate locations....
