cakewalk.comFrom country to metal, bass to funk, classic rock to futuristic, SONAR’s 16 new drag-and-drop amps aren’t about emulating existing amps—but creating idealized amps that can exist only in the virtual world. Get ready to change how you look at amp simulations.

Are these actual amp sims, or is this just a gussied up FX chain?

Both, actually. FX chains provide a framework, but there's also a lot of proprietary IP I developed for Gibson while working on the FBX guitar. I've been developing them for almost a year.

If you want to hear what they sound like, listen to the first four music videos on my YouTube channel. All the guitars and basses went through these sims. Also, most of the effects were ones I've designed (and will be made available to members).

The response from people who've played through them is so positive that there's been some talk about releasing them independently of SONAR as a Cakewalk product. But if that happens, which is by no means certain, it will be well into the future.

One thing I'd like to add is that the distortion "cleans up" if you turn down the guitar volume. Took a lot of effort to get that right...I'll be doing a video demo after NAMM.

I love a good demo,  shouting, banner waving, fighting...

oh,  not that sort of demo?

So, is there a difference between turning down the guitar volume and turning down the audio interface input gain?  or the track gain for that matter?

You can't do the latter two with your pinky. Only the greys have fingers long enough to both play guitar and diddle with the audio interface knob. Although I don't think you ever denied being a grey...hmmm...

BUT yes, if you use clip gain you can automate the cleaning up process.

I'm not sure where to locate these while using Sonar Platinum. I do not see anything in my list of audio effects entitled custom amps. Can you point the way for me?  Thank you...
